Will GS be hesitant to give another 10?

Will Gamespot be hesitant to give another 10 this year after MGS4 and GTAIV?

I think they will. Lets look at the big games. We have Resistance 2, Gears 2, Little Big Planet, Fable 2, Fallout 3, and Too Human. Even if the games are epic masterpieces I don't think GS will give them a 10.

Thoughts? Is the 10 rating too saturated now?

Yea, 3 AAAA games in one year? I don't think so.

I bet even if those games are better than GTA4 or MGS4, they won't be getting a 10/10.

I don't think any other game coming out this year will 'deserve' a 10. You see, gamers now-a-days scrutinize games for faults far more strictly than they did before. Some of the biggest titles of 2007/08 that we thought would be flawless and would blow our brains away (like DMC4, Ninja Gaiden 2, Halo 3, Assassin's Creed) did actually blow us away but didn't get a perfect 10 score. MGS 4 and GTA 4 are lucky exceptions.

However, that's just my opinion and I too am eager to find out what scores the games you mentioned manage to get!

I think they would but look at your list of games for your answer. None of those have the budget nor the production time that GTA and MGS had. MGS4 had over 200 people and 4 years to go on to make the game what it is. Also, after playing both games I would have to say that MGS4 deserves a 10 as well as GTA IV. Both games are very impressive and very different from one another. Unfortunately I feel that after playing MGS4 I don't think that a number scale can really express how good a game is. I mean i've been playing MGS4 non stop since I picked it up at midnight when it came out and after beating it once already I'm still excited to go through it again and see all of the things I missed or could have tried. I do think that GTA IV might have also been overrated a bit but who cares, both are must have titles.

people said the exact same thing after GTA IV, but look what happened. If a game really deserves a 10, it should get it, regardless of how many other 10s have been given out.

I mean they had a 10 a year.

Now they had 2 in 1 year. If a game deserves it, then it will get it. MGS 4 and GTA 4 deserved in the eyes of gamespot.

IF Gears of War 2, Resistance 2, Little Big Planet, Spore, etc deserve it, they will get it.

i don't know if gamespot will give another game a 10 this year but one thing is for sure to me gta iv did not deserve a 10 rating. gta iv has way too many flaws and for the most part the game is not fun.-Renegade

The fact is GTA4 and MGS4 deserved 10/10. If any other games come out that can match those games, they will get a 10 too.

why not only fanboys care about gs reviews now.

a 10 now is like a 9 a few years ago for 2 reasons.

GTA4 shouldnt have gotten a 10 for a few reasons (taking away features that would of made the game better) but MGS4 totally, 100% deserved a 10.

The only upcoming games that can get a 10 is Gears 2 and Spore but there aremany great qualty games coming out for all platforms including the PC.

PS - IGN wanted to give MGS4 an 11/10

Yes, I personally don't trust the new reviewers' reviews very much. They seem a little too light on some bad points and far too harsh on other bad points (and their reviews are just dull sometimes). I don't know, though I won't be surprised. (Great job putting Jeff Gerstmann out for no good reason, CNET.)

Since they no longer have 9.6, 9.7, 9.8, and 9.9 ratings it is quite possible that there will be more 10s possibly even this year.
