I've always wondered how GTA4 had such an active mod community despite how horrid the port was.
...but here is a video I found on RPS, kind of impressive

I never use graphics mods :?
I agree GTA IV looks pretty horrible but I insist on playing the games like they're originally made to be.
GTA V won't look like those pictures but I have no doubts that it will look good. However the gameplay and story is more important for me.
gameplay and story in GTA IV was the worst in any GTA game so far thats why i have my doubts for GTAV , i was a fan of the series since the original game and liked every sequel except IV which wasnt even GTA anymore except the name , at least Saints Row is continuing where GTA stoppedGTA V won't look like those pictures but I have no doubts that it will look good. It will be at least 10 years before GTA looks that good out of the box.BigBoss255
10 years? Don't you think that's a bit too much considering peoples are already playing it like that with today's hardware.
Agreed, GTA SA looks like a cleaned up PSone game, but damn, that art is incredible. The texture packs ruin the look of the game.I never use graphics mods :?

No and I hope it doesnt. I like the "cartoon art-style" that R* uses for GTA games. Not everything has to look as if im outside.FuhgeddaboudittI really like how the game artwork looked for GTAIV, if they could make their GTA look like that I would die.

Its so bad that the "Carlitos Way/Scarface" ViceCity was soo much better than GTA 4. As far as stories go in the GTA universe and how they were told, GTA4 smacks them all, followed by GTA SA, VC, then 3.[QUOTE="LazyMushroom"]

I think you're giving too much credence to how important that is to the developer's vision.
Even Super Mario Bros. has an "hd" remake (super mario all stars).
GTA5 will look better in my eyes because it won't be a re skinned version of a game I beat over 3 years ago ;)
Or I can get my money's worth and make it better by looking(and playing) better. You do realize mods give replay value right?I never use graphics mods :?

A shiney wet looking mod of gta gives about zero replayability.

You can replay it again to see the shiny graphics...pretty sure people replayed Crysis 2 for the DX11 and texture pack.[QUOTE="15strong"][QUOTE="mitu123"] Or I can get my money's worth and make it better by looking(and playing) better. You do realize mods give replay value right?mitu123

Many already consider the game really boring, repetetive, and overrated. I guess if you dip the game's visuals in a jar of vasaline it will become better somehow.

Not really, I don't see PS4 or 720 putting out graphics like that and Rockstar games on PC usually match the console version. Maybe the generation after. So when your console downloads a game update to fix some bugs or whatever you quickly jump up and disconnect it from the internet? Makes sense.but I insist on playing the games like they're originally made to be.

I am also of this minority opinion. I'm curious: how do people think the gameplay of GTAIV is worse than San andreas? The cars in SA are like toy cars, and the gun mechanics were horrible - it was more luck based than anything. So, what? it didn't have stats in swimming, and it didn't allow you to get a haircut? Really? They're the biggest complaints I've heard of. Now, the issue of there being nothing to do once the story's over I can agree with.I personally loved GTA and thought its story and gameplay were much better than any previous game, but I know I am in the minority.

[QUOTE="hoogiewumpus"]If the lead platform is the PS3, then yes. The PS3 just keeps getting better with it's visuals, and with blu-ray, it can handle visuals that the 360 can't. I know the PS3 can do those visuals for sure.lundy86_4
Prove it.
I doubt it can do that.
We'll have to wait until it comes out for teh proof. I'm certain that it can though. The PS3 is very powerful.Does someone have to make this thread every damn month? SilverChimera
Yes. There's plenty of threads that gets made every month.:)

I'm not so sure about that. I think you underestimate how powerful modern day PC hardware is, and how quickly modern hardware becomes the norm. Reports are that this mod is buggy, but the frame rates are playable on at least the following cards:
• HD4870
• GTX285
Which is by no means top of the line by today's standards. Both of these cards were released 2-3 years ago, as far as I remember. If owners of these cards or better are still a minority, it's a fairly large and growing minority. And all the developers have to do is ensure the game can scale down to their lowest common denominator.
It doesn't run on those, BS specs is all.If it's released for next-gen consoles then it should look better then that.22Toothpicks
Next gen consoles will probably be motion control focused, cost about the same as current consoles, and be marginally more powerful.
If you want teh epics, get the P-see.
