What do you guys think? Will Killzone be the killer app for the PS3 ie. will it have extremely good graphics (like Gears), sell extremely well (like Gears), and get a great score (like Gears)?
I think Sony is relying on this game to sell PS3's this Christmas and wouldn't be surprised if it sells extremely well very quickly since I'm sure it will get exceedingly aggresive marketing, much like the original. I don't think the graphics will match the original trailer but I do think they'll be exceptional. As for it's score, AA minimum.
The Way I see it, Resistance is PS3's Gears right now. Now, If Killzone 2Â Actually has everything it should, It could raise the bar for Sony. However, Guerilla Games has a notorious history of having GREAT trailers end up underpar when it comes to controls and A.I.

Resistance is nothing like Gears. It doesn't have outstanding graphics, it hasn't sold incredibly, and it didn't get an outstanding score, so it is no way a killer app.
You're really hyping Killzone man...I don't know about that.
Still, I hope it's good, good games I like to buy, but until then Gears of War and REsistance are great enough for me.

The original had potential, and the story was interesting. I know many on SW disagree but I think PS2's limitations held the game back from being truly great (plus, I'm sure it was rushed).
I don't think they're rushing it this time and it has a massive budget with over 120 devs working on it. Plus, Sony needs something against Halo 3. I'd be very surprised if KZ got less than AA.
No, it won't be Sony's Gears of War, it'll be Sony's Red Steel. Why the hell are cows hyping this game? It's not like Killzone 1 was any good and it's not like we've seen anything about Killzone 2 except a CGI trailer from two years ago. I'll ask again, Cows, why the damn hell are you hyping this? It will probably look great, and will probably sell really well because of the advertisement and the graphics, but it will never be as good as Gears. I doubt that 2nd rate gaming company can compete with Epic Games.

Off Topic: Why are all your threads posted in this question format? It's pretty funny how serious it sounds. On Topic: I don't know. I haven't played it. But from past experiance with the Killzone franchise, my prediction is no.

It doesn't matter how good a game looks, if it plays like **** the game will suck. The first Killzone looked great on the PS2, but that didn't mean anything because the gameplay sucked, there were tons of glitches, and it lagged all the time.

If Killzone 2 is released anywhere near Halo 3, Microsoft's hype machine will steam roll it. Killzone would shrivel up and die, even if it did end up being a great game. If the game is anything like the first, then no. It had better make some huge changes if it is going to sell. Anything is possible, but I do not see this happening.
AA minimum? That leads me to believe you think this trash could possibly AAA? :lol: Why don't you just say right now that you think this game will be awesome and destroy Halo 3 both in review scores and at retail.
first one was okay and i'm kinda wondering weather having 100+ devs working is good because they're putting alot of time and effort into making a good game or bad because the PS3 is that hard to program. hopefully it can be as good as GEOW but most likely not

I think Sony just want to minimize Halo 3's impact. We all know it will surpass KZ in sales by a significant amount, but Sony will try and cut that hype by releasing a game with nicer graphics, and to many casuals, that means its a better game.

I think 20 million is about average nowadays for a really big title. I think it was only really news because it was a record breaking budget for Holland.
Lost Planet cost $20 million to make and the same again in advertising.

Really? They've been saying 100 million?
Why? That's how much it cost to make movies like Rush Hour...or Mr and Mrs Smith...I doubt KZ will reach that kind of special effects in those movies.
$20 million is still an incredible amount of money to spend on one game.

Halo has the best graphics regardless of reality to many casuals. You are always going on about how Sony's brand recognition will mean there dominance in console sales.

LP cost that much? Gears only cost $10 million didn't it?
A lot of sites are making the $20 million a big deal though for KZ. I bet you anything they spend more on advertising than they did on developing the game.
