MGS isn't quite as big as GTA. It will sell millions but not as many as GTA. And I could see it scoring a 9.5-10 here but it doesn't mean it won't be a better or worse game

True, I could see an 8.5. But the way IGN and Gamepro described it in their hands on preview. A 10 is more likely believe it or not. But Gamespot is usually tougher on reviews than most people. They could dock it for the online component, or if they call MGOnline seperate, they could dock it for lack of online :? Who knows
The MGS series has never had anywhere near the mainstream appeal of GTA and add the fact that GTA4 is on two consoles while MGS4 is only on one(with the lowest install base),so I don't think MGS4 will be anywhere nears as big .

MGS has never been a mass-market game like GTA has. MGS is a second-tier brand; GTA, Halo, The Sims, Madden and WoW are gaming's top-tier brands.
Mario? Anything with Mario in the title sells...
At one point Mario was a top-tier brand. Then Nintendo completely ran it into the ground with all those wack games starring Mario.Those games are still Top Tier the only bad Mario Game is Mario Party but that is because it is the same s the previous ones but every other Mario game is still Top tier.
