Will MGS4 be the greatest game ever made?

Well, for one, you can't say that because MGS4 isn't out yet so you can't judge it because you haven't played it. And 2, no game can ever be the best game because technology is constantly improving and if someone takes a game and adds one little upgrade to it, it is considered a better game.

MGS4 will definately be a candidate for GOTY and considering all the new gameplay elements in it and graphics, it could win, but no game will ever be "The Best Game Ever".

I'm sure it'll be a very fun game to play, but it won't be the best game ever made.

People get so excited over their old favorites, when their old favorites should have died off years ago.

I like that list because all of those lasted because they were fun to play - say for Final Fantasy.

The only reason MGS lasted as long as it has is because people want to know what happens to Snake in the next enstallment. Sure, they're pretty fun games, but their gameplay has been matched and even bettered by other titles.

Really, when it comes down to it, people just want to find out what happens in the crappy story.

...... nobody plays Mario because they want to know what happens to the princess next.

For me? Probably not... Hell maybe not even my favorite of the MGS series.

I was impressed by what they showed of MGS4 yes, but looking at the early impressions as a driving force, I can definitely say that I was far more impressed by MGS2 back then, than MGS4 at this point in time.

Still, MGS2 turned out to not be my favorite in the series, so... I will never know untill I actually finish MGS4.

That´s not a very good comparison now is it? MGS4 is Kojima´s next MGS there is no way a fan of the series will be disapointed 1 was amazing so was 2 and 3 4 will be "next gen" it´s going to be very sweet.

To me and many it will be the greatest game ever made. But to many others it will not. The greatest game ever made cannot really exist--it is all a matter of opinion. But many opinions will most likely be checked in the yes column. I think that just about everybody will have this in their very small list of best games ever.

i haven't even played the game yet, and i could already say it will be one of my all-time favs (i think it will be up there with the likes of Chrono Trigger, FF7, MGS1, OOT, ....)

I don't even see it as stealth anymore, really. Hiding under steel barrels doesn't seem that stealthy to me.

Greatest game ever made? It probably won't even be the greatest game of 2008, considering all the competition. No point in hyping a game up so badly that you only set yourself up for disappointment. There's no way it'll be less than good, but let's not get crazy.Zeliard9

I do think it will be GOTY in 2008, but at the same time, this guy is right. When you hype games up too much, they always wind up being disappointments. That is what I saw with Halo 2. If it hadn't been that hyped, people would have been dancing naked in the streets over it. But it's hype got so outrageous that inevitably some said it was a "let down."

I'm sure that MGS4 will be a good game for most people and a great game for the hardcore fans, but there is no way in hell that it will be the best game ever made. It's sure to get a good rating but it won't be long before it's forgotten.

In fact I'll say this right now...If Metal Gear Solid 4 somehow becomes recognised as the best game ever created, I'll eat my own head!
