God I hope not.BreakingPoint8
same here. I'm pretty sure they will try to go for the same all-around audience.
I think they will strive to reach the new level of casual market that Nintendo is opening up, but overall they will maintain a focus on the "core" gamers. CorvinQFT
Can you give a reason?

I think core gamers are in it for a longer haul, they will generate more long-term software sales. They also tend to be more informed, actively seeking out game information through whatever channels they can find, this can be a pretty big source of advertising revenue.
With the Wii being a success will Sony and Microsoft conform to family friendly and getting up to play games? Discuss/shadowfox55
That is a good possibility, and something I have considered...but I sure hope not.
It would be tragic.
What's great about these companies is they play to their strengths, and I am a Tech guy, so I don't want a bunch of clones on the market.
Sony is appealing to the new gamer with the Buzz the game. Which question users with their friends and family. shadowfox55
You could say the same about Scene-It on the 360, which is great fun with a group of friends in a party atmosphere. Between that, Rock Band, Guitar Hero, XBLA games, the 360 is a fairly casual-friendly machine. If I don't feel like getting deep in to a game like Mass Effect I can just fire up a game like Bejeweled or Guitar Hero for a half hour or so.
I don't think we are going to see a system launching for $599 again. Other than that, no.Chutebox
Thank God.
well sony has blu-ray and nintendo makes children toys.ff7isnumbaonechildrens GAMES something sony should try making

How a die hard PS3 fan who believes "Sheeps" is an actual word can make comments on what is a children's toy is beyond me. You realize the Wii has the most diverse demographic right?
Probably not....

Seriously are you ever going to stop using "Nintendo/Wii" and "childrens toys" in the same sentence?

this is absolutely correct
The only way its going to change becasue of wii is their going to focus alot more on casuals. Games like Scene It? for 360 kinda prove this. Of course, Scene it is just a outright copy of PS2s BUZZ. black_awpN1
Scene it is been around for a long time and they just made a console version for x360.

You could argue this point, or you could realize he's completely right.
Scene it has been around a long time, however M$ copied Buzz right down to the controllers, and grabbed a license that would work, in this case Scene it.
They never expected people would care, because it's not a big deal, but it was a complete copy. You however, NEVER knew this, and when you were confronted with this information, you actually posted to the contrary instead of doing a little research. Well, now you can rest knowing you were wrong.

You're right it is a total Buzz rip-off, I thought this was common knowledge.[QUOTE="SolidTy"][QUOTE="the1stfandb"][QUOTE="black_awpN1"]The only way its going to change becasue of wii is their going to focus alot more on casuals. Still, nothing wrong with filling a void on the system. I've played BUZZ and Scene it, and they can be fun, I just wish Scene It's narrator wouldn't talk so much. It reminds me of the good ol' "You don't know Jack Games." which also were fun in groups.
Nintendo has the casual market secured. It'd be a waste for the other two to attempt to capture that audience.DaAznSaN
I do not think it will be a waste. Sony and Microsoft can offer different games from Nintendo.
Yeah I agree that Sony using the Sixaxis controller is Sony's way of conforming to appeal to a new audience.

I did not know but i am not suprised.
With the Wii being a success will Sony and Microsoft conform to family friendly and getting up to play games? Discuss/shadowfox55and halo didnt create a new breed of fratboy casuals in 2000? and GTA isn't the most casual game out today? who doesn't want to kill cops and hookers? lemme see, will nintendo conform to giving us violent dirivitive shooters, or fun games that mix the best of all like SMG,MP3,LOZ:TP, Z&W,manhunt 2, bwii, re4, okami, spore? MS should take heed for sony, ninty are passing them
I wouldn't be surprised to see one of the three of them trying to take consoles closer to virtual reality. Maybe true 3-d or something close. M$ and Sony will probably be heavy on the motion sensitive controllers I would think.
BTW I hope to God they don't start making Nintendo type games.
