Will Microsoft ever be able to reach 1st place at all?

Last Gen, Microsoft beat Nintendo for 2nd place, while Sony was being in for 1st place. Now, this gen, it looks like that they'll be in 2nd place again, this time, beating Sony, while Nintendo is currently in for 1st place.

The question is, do you think that Microsoft will wind up being in 1st place for next gen, beating both Nintendo & Sony instead of just one competitor over the other the next time around?

If Microsoft gets exclusive console rights for Blizzard games then they win next gen.

It is possible, I don't see why not.

Microsoft's Xbox 360 was #1 for a while until the Wii caught. So...it already did. ;)

They've got the money and they've got the determination, however this generation has shown it takes a little risk and little creativity to take the 'top spot'. Question marks remain over whether MS they have the foresight and capacity to innovative to lead the market next generation.

Obviously they're currently trying with Natal which is great, but for Sony and MS their motion controls seem tacked on and too little too late to have any affect - from the observer it just looks like a little bit of playing catch up and attempt to capitalize on Nintendo's ground work.

numbers dont mean everything, microsoft has more owners this time around, thats why they won. they've done everything better than before. they arent last place, people are buying their system

PSP has 360 passed up in sales? Hmm, my soucces must be out dated they say taht 360s beating it still. Can I have a link? (Im not doubting you or anything but for future debate purposes I dont want to be innacurate with my information or anything.)

Doubtful unless the xbox takes off in Japan. Hard to be #1 when you are missing one of the largest gaming markets. It could be #1 in NA and Europe, however, if it continues to widen its appeal tothose regions.

Wait. The 360 was no. 1 in 05-06 Then when the Wii and PS3 launched it slipped to second in 2007 and third in 2011.

i think there is a very good chance it will be number 1 next gen. if project natal can get some new users on board this gen and more people buy360 as it gets cheaper. they will get even better sales next gen. plus if they make xbl free or cheaper
