Last gen Microsoft had so many advantages over the competition with the Xbox 360. However they still weren't able to come out victorious.

This worries me because this time around, Microsoft doesn't have all these advantages anymore. So how on earth will they be able to win this console war?

Remember that they only release their console in 13 countries this year(and in those 13 countries the PS4 will sell a lot more), meanwhile PS4 releases their console in 32 countries.

M$ console will never "win" a console war because it will never be accepted world wide. If M$ gave away free BJ's (from any girl of your choosing) with every console, they'd still get outsold world wide.

@OhSnapitz: Or maybe its just because the Xbox One is a pathetic excuse of a console.

No I don't think the Xbox will ever win a console war. It's popular in the U.S, some parts of Europe, but it can never get traction in Japan. I still think you need to at least have a respectable user base in Japan if you want to win the console war, and I don't ever see Microsoft doing that in the foreseeable future.

Japan has been the deciding factor. Sony, and Nintendo come from Japan. Sure the U.S, and European video game markets are much larger than Japans, but sales wise Japan is an important market if you want to sell more units than the other guys. In all honesty the PlayStation is a much stronger and well known brand to the world.

Highly doubt it.

MS had a year headstart on the PS3 and it just barely managed to stay ahead of it whilst being obliterated by the Wii.

This gen PS4 has so many advantages over the X1 including better 1st party support so i can easily see PS4 beating X1 in sales.

No matter how you spin it. The casual gamer sees $399-PS4 $499-X1

Despite the XBox being better than the PS2 it was always going to lose simply because of it being a brand new console. The XBox 360 and PS3 were never going to win this gen because people that weren't even that interested in gaming still bought a Wii and Sony/Nintendo will always be nostalgic to a lot of people.

That's not there fault, that's microsofts fault for doing a shitty job outside of America and uk, and have you seen the xbox, it's quite possibly the most western console ever, it lacks diversity that appeals to other markets.

marketing their console with Kinect and cable TV is not gonna win the war for them. atleast i hope not, because that's not gaming.

Can't people just enjoy the ride rather than win the race?

Smartest comment I've read on SW today :)

I'm quite content owning all systems and enjoying what each has to offer. How do we define who "won" the console war anyways? Was there even a "war" in anyone's mind other than the various SW threads?

Microsoft couldn't even get out of third place with a year's lead and a console with games. Now? They may as well just pack up and go home.

Sony DESTROYED everything with the PS2 (sales wise) and they ended up in last this gen. They even had to add in PS2 and possibly even PSP/Vita sales to try and overtake the 360 but it never even worked rofl. SONY DESPERATION CONTINUATION BAYBAY! YEAH! bwahahaha

No they wont. This will probably be the last console generation and MS surely wont win this one so no, they'll never will. No console with a sh*tty 1st party support should ever win a generation.

@Sweenix:

Disagree..

When the the 360 first released in Japan it had more "Japanese centric" games than the PS3. The 360 had A lot more support than the original Xbox and still got its ass handed to them in Japan. Japan was the deciding factor considering it was pretty much neck and neck in Europe.

And look at europe now, the 360 is getting smashed by the ps3, which happened about the same time, when the 360 stopped having all those different type of games, and stuck to halogearsforza

Japan is a lost cause for microsoft, but they could easily win without them, they just effed up big time in europe and lost there chance to overtake sony, now they will struggle even more in the coming generation.

I don't think they will. They just don't have the brand recognition to do it. The name Microsoft stands for "That thing that makes my computer cost $100 more so it will run programs" to the masses. Year in and year out, we hear about how ungodly wealthy these people get off of Windows.. Yet, most people don't have a clue how Windows actually works. It's just kinda there.

Ms will never win and rightfully so. They're just not good when it comes to other markets than the US.

Err no the Xbox isn't getting smashed in the EU sales are about 60/40% in the PS3 favor.
