Since Nintendo is probobly going to be pushing their new online service with the WiiU. Will Nintendo sell out to the DLC buisness model? Will they strip content from games to sell as DLC like other companies are doing? I'm curious to see how greedy Nintendo is.

They release lots of revisions for their handhelds and they have the shortest life cycle for their consoles... sounds to me they were already greedy.

Who knows... I'm leaning towards yes. More money can make anyone do anything.

This is why I like Nintendo being one generation behind. Now that the 3DS and Wii U are "curent-gen in features", they will adopt things that were popular this generation, like DLC milking.

A while ago Nintendo said that their DLC will be free but yeah...they already released paid DLC.

So, in other words...

Is Nintendo a for profit company?

Not likely. While people don't like the "kid" connection to Nintnedo, the truth is that parents seak out nintendo for that wholesome product. When people get older, the principle behind things becomes more apparent and factors more into the decision making process. Dlc would not side well with this part of nintendos key market. Any mature adult knows dlc, more often than not, is complete horse sht.

That depends, will people buy the DLC? I always found it funny that people blame developers and not the customers themselves for DLC. News flash: If people didn't buy the DLC, there wouldn't be DLC.

Hard to say. It's a possibility, for sure.

I think Nintendo has the right attitude towards it, make complete engaging games and release fun but not major DLC to add to the experience later.

This. Nintendo isn't stupid, & has been in business far longer than MS & Sony has.

Yeah I don't blame people for buying DLC. They can do whatever they want, it's their money. I'm the minority and they're the majority. But they'd still be the ones to blame if someone wanted to whine about DLC. :P

If they do it right I dont mind. They are probably still going to release full games. If they come out with character packs and map packs for Super Smash I will probably buy them :)

Thefatness16

But all the DLC is created after the game was shipped because Iwata didn't want them to remove anything for DLC; They waited until they were finished before they made the DLC.

I'm pretty sure the Xbox had a shorter lifespan than any of Nintendos consoles, save for the virtual boy.

Must explain why their CEO took a paycut so he didn't have to lay off employees after the 3DS tanked or like how they repair and replace broken hardware without any sort of warranty right?

Maneil99
Oh you mean an online system that doesn't charge you to play with others or an online system that actually lets you continue to play the "free" games they give you even after your online subscription (and I use that term loosely) ends?

With more mainstream games and mature rated games coming to your Wii U, devs will release DLC for their games. If it sells well Nintendo might end up releasing DLC for some of their first party games. While I'm not a huge fan of dlc, there clearly are lots of people who are willing to pay extra money for dlc.

Every company wants lots of money but I don't think Nintendo will get to the point where they start making the ending to a Zelda game dlc. Games like animal crossing I can see them selling a lot of extra stuff.
