Nintendo has been a sore loser in one way or another since the N64. The SNES was their last all around good console. After having 4 terrible console back to back, does nintendo have any hope of returning to #1?

King of what? Having 2 last gen specced consoles in a row? Having no 3rd party support? Getting outsold WW by 2 month old consoles?

Nintendo still rules the mobile dedicated handheld market with the 3DS.

As for the Wii U, yes, it's a flop, but it won't kill Nintendo: they are a highly liquid corporation with conservative stock bonds and investment portfolios they have access to at anytime. They are far from going bankrupt, though their financial reports' tectonic shift from profit earnings to net loss puts a major question mark on their ongoing short and long-term goals.

Nintendo does need change, but I would never say "never" to anything in business: Nintendo can still recover from this, but its attitude does need some serious reflection on what today's market demands from it.

How were the N64 and GameCube terrible? And why are you ignoring handhelds?

"Sore losers" - wtf? Lol. It's just a company.

If you're talking about sales, then anything is possible, so yes (you could have been asking this question at the end of the GCN period).

And to me, they are the king of gaming. That's just my opinion.

Specs don't sell consoles. Ask the PS3. All these companies care about is the amount of cash they are getting in. If they cared about the best specs they wouldn't release consoles anyway, they'd release PC's. Nintendo won last gen. Gen before that it was Sony, this gen is still very much a toss up but Sony is looking strong out the gate. This is all financial for these companies, that's their only motivation (not saying it's wrong obviously) and not a more powerful console.

I wasn't a huge fan of the WIi... however, as it stands, Nintendo has been king 3 out of 6 of their consoles... so they should be due again next gen keeping them right t 50%. Whether that will happen or not is anybody's guess at this point. SONY has been king 2 of 3 and at 66%, and MS have not had there day in the sun just yet.

Um Sega never felt Nintendo's backhand in fact they had 52% of the market share before the PlayStation 1 which almost took Nintendo under as well. Not to mention Atari was dead before Nintendo showed up it was ET who put the final nail in that coffin.

and 360 even had a 1 yr head start , wii and ps3 out sold it when it was all said and done , ,

- ----- and nintnedos games are always gonna be known as classics ,

Nope. This is their last console. It's time for them to go third party/stick to handhelds and sell IOS games.

With the way they treat 3rd party developers? Not a chance. Unless they change their backward thinking attitude.

It has SOME great games sure. Mario Galaxy games are even rated very high. But at the end of the day, it cannot even hope to compete with the ps3 OR 360 in terms of overall libraries and features (even when talking about those strictly for gaming purposes such as online).

Hell, the ONLY reason why smash bros online was a passable experience for me was because we all just used party chat on the 360 while playing with each other because Nintendo doesn't think that friends can exist without being in the same room.

Nintendo will be on top again,

every company is allowed a dud,

don't believe me?

just ask how hard in the paint lemmings are for xbone,

despite ceo's wanting to hack off the xbox division like a wart....

satoru iwata being president of Nintendo for coming on 12 years now,

it is still a learning process for him and his "successor",

should he abdicate or be forced from his position,

they will undergo a tremendous transformation,

as long as they don't buy into microtransactions and online access fees,

i know i will be

The point is that it's just plain dumb to call the market leader a "sore loser"... That's the kind of thing only a sore loser would say.

Either way, the Wii was never intended to "compete" with the PS360. The Wii's primary target audience were casuals, not core gamers. It makes no sense to complain about something the Wii wasn't primarily intended for. It wasn't until the Wii U that Nintendo announced they were intending to win back core gamers (after casuals started deserting them for mobiles) and compete directly against Sony & Microsoft.

In consoles? It's been hit or miss (sales wise)

In handhelds? Pretty much undisputed king right there.

Let me guess - you think "Nintendo is fine." Sheep use these same three words every time to describe every Nintendo situation, even though they keep sinking lower. They'll use the same three words even if/when Nintendo becomes third-party, lol. Like a reassuring Harry Potter magic spell.

Even Iwata disagrees with Sheep when he just said Nintendo is in trouble now, and they need to look at a different business structure. Read the articles released yesterday with what he said about the NPD and annual results.

Sheep are scared of numerical facts because it doesn't allow them room to make more excuses for this company.

Sheep also think Nintendo will magically erase these troubles and start fresh with a new console. But things are undeniably harder now, and they cannot rely on future fads and gambles like motion controls or Gamepads because it is too risky and maybe third parties - and the public - may not take to it (are Sheep still going to pretend third-party support is not important? Have they not learned their lesson yet?)

Nintendo will be king again? LOL - there are so many things they need to overcome, and many of them insurmountable at this point.

If they can't even change things now, exactly how are they going to do it with a future console? I just explained how going the gimmicky peripheral route is not a definite answer when I doubt Sheep can even think of a new idea themselves that will guarantee success for Nintendo (seriously, what other innovation is there for a console?)

VR? That needs power, which Nintendo wouldn't know how to wield effectively today.

Sony, Valve and Occulus already have a head start on this anyways, and I trust them more to make inroads than Nintendo.

Maybe Nintendo should bring back the "Vitality Sensor" so it can measure how nervous Sheep are getting lately.

You do realize the Nintendo 3DS was the best-selling console last year, right?

In my opinion, they need to hit the reset button with their consoles. While they do come out with well-reviewed games each generation, they need something more fresh like new IPs or something. It's like you always know what's coming.

Nintendo needs a considerably better online system and arcade shop system as starters.

They will do fine with their "universal appeal" market/strategy that they've basically always had. Nobody really knew what the heck the Wii U was and just confused everyone including me.

These days, the term hardcore is just short-hand for the 13-18 year old demographic. So yeah, that's not such a bad thing.

Nintendo needs to clean house. They are running around trying to get organized and let the year head start go up in smoke. The wii u has major issues that can't be fixed

1. Power it's too weak

2. No memory 2gb and only one is used for games

3. No storage 32gb is a joke and they even had 8gb systems

4. The lcd controller cost too much and their is only one and it is not portable

5. The online is weaksauce these days that is a major issue

6. Crappy marketing the brand had a year to get the word out

7. 3rd parties are a must period

8. The price is too high the ps4 is the best next gen console for only 100 bucks more

9. New ip's that reflect the current market a FPS for example

10. Listen to gamers/devs not tell us what they think we want or can do without this should have been number one IMO

This is just off the top of my head while sleepy and drunk pretty sure there are at least 10 more issues but I am tired.

Sorry bro.. but Nintendo was king last gen. Having said that.. sheep that's nothing to shout about considering most 3rd parties passed up on the Wii and the system had outdated hardware from launch. Sales didn't get you GTA or Mass Effect or Bioshock.. etc...etc..

Damn being a Cow is not interesting anymore... it's like pure domination. I think I'll switch to be a sheep (since now I own both Wii U and 3ds)! Everyone is attacking sheep, even the mentally disabled Xbots... damn. The most challenging faction ever created. From now on I'm defending Nintendo.

Fvck you haters.

In consoles? Maybe. But it doesn't seem likely when you consider how they design them.

In terms of handhelds? They already are.

In terms of first-party software? They have been since the NES.
