Probably one of the biggest reasons Manhunt 2 got the AO was the Wii controls. Also, the violence in No More Heroes, while really more brutal like cutting people in half is more stylized and less involved. No More Heroes shouldn't receive and AO rating... I think.

What do you think?

It might not, I think there is a way to make a game more violent but not as sick.

Doubtful. If they feel it is has any chance at getting an AO rating at this point, they'll work to edit it down to M for sure. I don't think the game is that close to being finalized, but then again, I don't really know for sure.

I wouldn't want them to anything to it though. I would prefer they take the game to the ESRB to see if it's AO worthy. I wouldn't want them to take out stuff yet...

Generally it's stuff of sexual nature that ends up putting things into the AO catagory. Violence, nah. Something can be extreamly violent, but so long as it's not associated with sex seems to be okay.

I'm going to say probably not. The raters will be more forgiving on No More Heroes because of its cell shaded, almost Anime kind of style.

I hope it's playable. I just need to play a game where I can split someone's body in half straight down from the head...samurai style! I also want a game that's interesting. So far, No More Heroes looks pretty awesome, but that's just from observing what little clips they've released. Hopefully the game has a good story.

It's a lot less realistic then MH2's violence, more stylised and artistic, I doubt it'll get an AO rating.

If it was the Wii's controls then the ps2 and psp versions would have gotten an M.

Manhunt got the rating because its plain Sadistic and the cruel sexual content.

it's cel shaded and stylized. It's not going to be realistic, think of it like kill bill. It's incredibly violent, but it's not to be taken seriously.

It's funny you say that because one scene had to be shot in black and white because of all the blood in America. Japan got it in color.

manhunt 2 wasn't banned because it was over violent. It was banned because of the sexual nature of the violence, with its emphasis on torturous stealth kills and gleeful sadism. No more heroes seems more blood and guts like a million other games. It will spill more blood than manhunt2 probably, but it's just the way that they do it that makes it more okay

Had nothing to do with Wii control scheme. It was also slapped with the AO on PS2 and PSP.

No MOre Heroes doesn't contain any testicle removal as far as I know, so it should be fine.

No it won't, to get an AO raing you practically have to try and get it, and I seriously doubt No More Heroes has you ripping of peoples testicles and stabbing people in the eye with pens.

Remember, NMH's main weapon is a beam sword and not just a regular sword or knife. It's a fantasy/sci-fi weapon,so that in and of itself will make the violence in this game tolerable no matter how extreme it is.

Well it's pretty much impossible to have a serious disscussion on sex. You can talk about violence, gore, all that fun stuff, but if you talk about sex in any light, good or bad, you'll get looks. Odds are if you putsexual content on any game, no matter what other content it has, it will land an AO rating.

No. The unrealistic styIization even if more violent then Manhunt, will not be cause for concern... because it doesn't look real. Manhunt 2 is designed to look real and provide a "real" experience. NMH is like Ichi the Killer... incredibly over-the-top and awesome all at the same time.

Didn't happen with killer7, and that one was sure as hell disturbing. Makes me wonder if NMH is going to contain any similarly whacked out scenes and/or characters like Curtis Blackburn, or the politicians that keep talking after their skulls get blown open by gunshots....

I think this Manhunt 2 AO thing will cause developers making gorey, violent games to step back and tone them down a little.

It will be gorrier, that's all they said, gore is not why manhunt 2 was banned.

I don't really think so. No More Heroes is more stylized than Manhunt 2 is and I think (from what I've seen so far) the only way you can kill things is with your sword. In Manhunt 2 you could torture people and then kill them, etc.

No... Suda 51 lied. They will tone it down to be M rated. It will be rated differently also because its not the same kind of violence. Manhunt is more realistic brutal for nothing killer game, NMH will be more stylized killing and not as realistic. That will help its score and intesity factor.

This sure is one screwed up world we live in.

A kid ask about a man killing another man, the explanation is pretty simple to the kid "He wanted that man dead, it was the wrong thing to do in real life". Meanwhile, bring up rape and it's most likly going ot spark a huge ammount of stuff. Urges, why, sex, and most likly rape is assosiated with violence and a lot of force.

Yeah, but it seems ESRB is the only one who doesn't give extreme violence an AO rating. Games like Dead Rising have gotten AO ratings for violence. I think Gears of War has, too, but I'm not entirely sure.

It can be a lot more violet and gorier. but NMH has it stylized. Suda 51 can get away with a lot more that the realistic manhunt. Also Killer 7 had a sex scene sort of, if memory serves me right.
