I only got really interested in the franchise when Modern Warfare came out and I still very much enjoy them to this day. I was very disappointed that they dropped the single player campaign in Black Ops 4 though and haven’t picked up the game, yet. It still looks really good though and I am interested in playing the new Blackout mode. I’m hoping that they still put in the single player campaigns in the future games.
@goldenelementxl: And Advanced Warfare, Blops3, Infinife War, all also suck.
Advanced Warfare and Infinite Warfare had pretty cool campaigns and solid multiplayer. BLOPS 3 was solid, but probably the weakest of those 3. But suck? Nah... They were the best selling games the year they released. Sounds like you might be in the minority there... A message board gamer in the minority? Sounds about right.
Apparently not; as it continues to sell well. I did jump into Black Ops IV and enjoyed Blackout, Zombies, & a bit of multiplayer but it was short. Maybe put about a month into the game and haven't touched it since.
Black Ops 4 is the first COD game I haven't bought. Battle Royal is garbage and cutting my explosive hollywood bam bam campaign out of it to have it be replaced by that is considered high treason.
Treyarch were always little fuckers.
no one talks about COD anymore. people did lost interest. its not longer most popular.
beside I only liked COD1 and 2. rest are meh.
Don't mind the campaigns, but usually I play a CoD game about 3 years after it first comes out. In saying that, I quite enjoyed the World War II one that came out in 2017 (I actually picked that up a couple days after release after playing it at a friend's house). Otherwise, don't touch online with CoD.
I played 2, 3 & 4 and have never touched the series since then.
Basically same here. I lost interest after COD 4.
I did play Modern Warfare 1 and 2, no idea where that lays on the series but lost all interest in the series after that. It was too much of the same thing after the MW games.
I was more in WW2 cod than the rest anyways. But even if they remastered them all or even made a faithful reboot of WW2 cod, i wouldnt play it. The last WW2 cod reboot looked pretty shitty, had zero interest in anything it offered.
These days lost any urge to play the series. This applies to most FPS games as well.
I got 2 & 3 as gifts and played them out of respect to the person who gave them to me & got 4 on the cheap. I can't say I really liked either of them, but finished them all on the hardest difficulty as I like a challenge, and the mile high achievement was a real bitch to get on 4, after that I said I would never play another CoD and never have.
It's not up to the audience to get tired, but up to the devs to drop the ball.
At this point the only defining features of the series are first person perspective and armed conflict. Anything else is up for change.
CoD can keep reinventing itself and keep fresh ad infinitum.

There will be no singleplayer for COD moving forward.
It basically costs them too much money and multiplayer is a money printer for them: season passes, day one DLC, microtransactions, lootboxes.
SP= costs money
MP= makes money
to put it simple
@R4gn4r0k: Oh, I know. It's why I went with Battlefield V this year. War Stories are alright-ish.
I liked Nordlys, Tirallieur and The Last Tiger. They had plenty of great gameplay and story moments.
Under no flag felt like some extended tutorial.
You aren't interested in doing Battlefield V multiplayer I assume ? :p
You can always play some coop, they are launching that soon.
@R4gn4r0k: In retrospect, the SP is what is most mocked about in the later games. The multiplayer is what brings in the big numbers because quite frankly, it’s still brilliant and the leader in the genre.
To each their own but I feel COD multiplayer is absolute trash.
I tried getting into COD: WWII multiplayer, war mode was alright, because it was the only mode that wasn't completely braindead. But it just lacked anything that made the original COD games great and those were games I put hundreds of hours into multiplayer.
@R4gn4r0k: I might do some multiplayer rounds one of these days. I like the action.
If you want some focussed action that's more about teamplay than just all around chaos I'd recommend Frontlines and Breakthrough game modes.
I reckon you'd like BF V multiplayer, it has something for everyone:
-Teamplayer (medic, support)
-Leaning back and trying to pop some heads (sniper)
-Agressive player (assault)
-Tanks
-Planes
...
@R4gn4r0k: I usually play Conquest. Is that still in this or did they rename it?
Conquest is the classic mode :D Yeah, it's still in.
They are also returning Rush mode soon, I'm very much looking forward to it.
Conquest supports every map, there is even a map in Belgium for BF V conquest, based around tank warfare:
For real, even the Dutch maps are so sweet, all the sign names are in Dutch :P
Nice. I like that.
The cycle of current gamers getting old and young, new gamers moving up from the kiddie ranks never ends. So......nope.
