Sega Dreamcast sold over 10 million units. Do you think PS3 has a chance?

Most likely. The Dreamcast did well actually, but due to financial troubles Sega folded. It wasn't the Dreamcast's fault.

I like this DC quote from a sega VP. ""By hitting the one million units sold landmark, it is clear that the Sega Dreamcast consumer has moved beyond the hard-core gamer and into the mass market.""

I don't know, the PS3 has a tough battle ahead considering some people still buy the DC.

The Dreamcast was the successor to the very unpopular Sega Saturn. Neither Sony, nor Microsoft, nor Nintendo have made successors to unpopular systems.

dreamcast was a great system and could emulate ps1 games better than the ps2 could, it also had a batch of great games.. shame that it was crushed by noob fanboys who expected a ton from their so called emotion engine.. lmfao

Yeah but Nintendo has this nasty habit of profiting from system sales.

Terms like Lemming and Damage Control are used here quite a bit, but make no mistake... they are juvenile excuses for clearly expressing yourself. GDC was the 1st sign that the PS3 might be working on addressing the numerous problems with their system. I know because I have a PS3. Do you have a 360, and therefore a basis for comparison? Does anyone who calls people Lemmings have a 360 for that matter? I imagine the answer is no, because if you did, you'd see how much trouble Sony is in right now based on the strength of their competition. Asking for more and delivering less is Sony's current approach to the market. They are going to need a lot more than a platformer and a MMO without any quests and tons of ads to get people to spend $600.

Look... 99% of everyone here on system wars, comes here to diss the other system. Given that I dont often diss the PS3's competition anymore, I will of course call Xbox fanboys Lemmings when they show such obvious fanboyness. Any "Mature" person wouldn't have even created this thread. I mean seriously... PS3 will have way more than 10 million sold by the end of it's lifespan. Given the popularity of the PS2 (100+ million sold) wouldn't loose 90% of it's users in one generation. It's a near impossibility. On a last note, I would own all three of the new systems if I had the money and time. I dont though, and PS3 won out. If I feel like defending my system of choice from a bunch of immature people here on SW and sinking to their level occasionally... then so be it. SW isn't meant to be taken seriously anyway.

Good point. Didn't mean to sound overly hostile. I just feel like people badmouth things they havn't even tried, and that really gets to me.

EDIT:  Just because Home is coming, doens't mean the PS3's woes are over with.  (This is System Wars after all.)

The PS3 has sold probably around 2 million, while the Dreamcast sold around 10 million. As long as the PS3 sells ok it will pass it.Â
