Everybody is expecting Sony to put everythingon the line this E3.

Do you predict that E3 will be the turning point for Sony? I for one do think so.

I am a Wii owner, and I have to say I'm not that hyped after seeing that not so much effort is taken to keep the hardcore fans happy especially from 3rd partiesand with rumors about games cancellation. Maybe this E3 will be owned by 360 or PS3.

I don't know if E3 will have a huge effect and be a turning point, but the PS3's sales will increase regardless as we begin to emerge from the summer slump.

well, i suppose and hope so, but in my opinion it will do better when games are actually released, rather than when they are announced.

Not if this E3 is like last years they wont.

If Sony have a brilliant presentation and Microsoft and Nintendo show basically nothing/mess it up, then Sony might start seeing some better fortune.

A price drop is the only method of increasing sales. Only gamers pay attention to E3- the average consumer just looks at the store price and available games.

Guys, E3 is a trade event. The Average Joe on the street won't know a thing about it- only Geeks like us pay attention. And we already own a system or two.

Sales spikes occur at Xmas and when a price drop happens- and not before then.

That depends on how good the presentation is. If Sony and the developers working on PS3 games can show off some games that really show what the PS3 is capable of, the PS3 will sell better even if Sony's overshadowed by Microsoft and Nintendo.

No. Even if Sony has the best E3 ever, it is not going to result in any sizable spike in PS3 sales. E3 is not going to change how expensive the PS3 is.

Do all of your friends go online to find out about games? Do they go to gamer-specfic sites like Gamespot?

I'm referring to the guy on the street who just walks into a store and picks a game he likes the look of- which is by far the largest consumer group.

He's right I think that we forget that we are actually slightly out of touch with the gaming market and I don't just mean casual games.

Could, depends on what they show/announce. I think the mention of a FFXIII PSN demo alone could move units in Japan, although I would expect that type of announcement at TGS. Sony has been on a roll since GDC, so I am expecting a good press confrence from them.

If they focus more on how good the games are instead of how powerful the PS3 is, then they may have a chance.

Sony's E3 will be full of announcements. Microsofts E3 will be full of gameplay and demos of the announcements they made last year, trust me Microsoft will have the strongest showing, as they usually do. Sony will make progress in the right direction, but if you put everything aside thats happened before E3, Microsofts will appear to be the strongest, hands down.

Thats funny, becuase I thought Nintendo had the best showing last year and obviosuly 2005 was Sony's year. Plus, I don't know where you were when sony was showing off amazing looking GAMEPLAY at GDC and SGD.

E3 will have about as much effect on PS3 selling as it did on Nintendo losing their kiddie image last generation: absolutely zero.

E3 is here to please the fanboys and nothing more. It's fun, it's exciting, and outside of the gaming public, it goes completely unnoticed.

i have to agree with u on that. most casuals i know dont even know about e3 or go to game sites. my casual friends dont really care about games or know about games like uncharted or bioshock. their library consist of games like madden and tiger woods. their way of getting news are by word of mouth with ppl they come in contact with orseeing whats out there in a store.

Halo 3 and GTA will own the rest of 2007, Sony's sales will still be rock bottom.

Sony might do better in 2008.
