Will PS3 surpass Dreamcast in AAAe's?

Over the last few weeks there seems to have been a move to focus on sales and the future while discussing the PS3 and a shift away from games in favor of a "just wait" thread from the pro-Sony Camp, but still without PS3 having a Kameo and Zelda: TP Killer in their Library as of yet,

I have to wonder, at this pace will PS3 be able to surpass the Dreamcast in terms of AAAe's for its lifetime?

But also keep in mind Skies of Arcadia and RE: Code Veronica were ported well after the fact and were also AAAe's for a time, but keeping with the golden rules of SW they are not included.

There are also 9 more games that have scored higher then RFoM which are 8.6 or higher but > 9.0.

So how much longer do we need to wait for PS3 to surpass Dreamcast in AAAe's?

Or how many posts into this thread will someone posting in a Gamespot fourm say "Only by GS standards does the PS3 not have an AAAe"?

Wow the Dreamcast was the worst console in gaming history it died in a year and had no titles and even when the price dropped to $50 people still weren't buying it. The PS3 is going to be the best console ever. Oh yeah the PS1 had more AAA titles then the Dreamcast and as did the PS2.

I can name some titles that will be at least a AA if not AAA and they are MGS 4, Gran Turismo 5, Final Fantasy XIII, and God of War III. Theres also Afrika, Haze, Little Big Planet, Killzone 2, Resistance Fall Of Man 2, Motor Storm 2, Hot Shots Golf 5, Eyedentify, Crysis, Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier, and a bunch of other titles.nVidiaGaMer

let's not forget that the playstation franchise is top notch when it comes to new IPs

If MGS4 doesnt score AAA here at Gamespot, then there will be no tomorrow...

P.S. The 360 only has 3 AAAe's on this site and Halo 3 is one of those (xbox360 biggest and best game) id be more worried about xbox360 making that marker than PS3 since NONE of it's big name exclusives have been released yet. And with MS already taling about releasing a new system to ditch xbox360 and it's glitch ridden hardware to milk it's gulible fanbase by the end of 09...I don't think you need to be making such posts asking if PS3 will surpass something by the end of it's lifetime.

You need to worry if xbox360, as a whole, will last long enough to really be considered a worth buying at all.

think wii has 1 or 2 AAAAE's though at other sites

I just can not see the PS3 having more AAAE games then the Dreamcast. Look how long PS3 has been out and still it does not even have one AAAE game. Eltroz

The X360 also didn't have a AAA title in its first full year. It got GOW though a little more then a year after its release.

Jak II is also a AAA PS2 title.

However the PS3 does have Drakes Uncharted which has a 9.0 critic rating and Gamespot gave it only a 8.0.

The PS3 also has Rachet and Clank for the PS3 which has a 8.9 critic rating but Gamespot only gave it a 7.5.

I have a feeling that Gamespot is biased against Sony.

It has quite a way to go. I mean, it has't even surpassed the Jaguar in AAAe's...

But, in all seriousness, it probably will. Its got quite a few great looking titles over the horizon, with tons still to be announced, I think the future for the PS3 looks rather bright.

So the real question isn't whether the PS3 will pass it, but will ANY of the consoles pass it?

Why do people keep saying this? I disagree with GS's reviews a lot of time (they're a little nitpicky, I'd say), but biased against Sony? C'mon. They didn't give AAA to Twilight Princess or Metroid Prime 3, both of which have an average score of at least 90% on Gamerankings; by that token they're also biased against Nintendo. They just gave Crisis Core (a PSP game) AAA here, which is a big Sony exclusive. They flopped Lost Odyssey (7.5), which was/is a big MS exclusive, and they flopped Crackdown (7.8 ), which was supposed to be another big MS exclusive for the 360. I'm not making a statement about whether or not I agree with the aforementioned scores (that's a topic for another thread), but my point is, if you look hard enough, you can find evidence that they're biased towards/against any company. But the fact of the matter is, just because they don't agree with you about your favorite system, doesen't make them biased; at least, no more biased than any other critics.

Gamespot gave MGS for the PS1 a 8.5 when ign gave it a 9.8!!!!!!!!!!!!! MGS is a masterpiece why did gamespot score Syphon Filter higher then MGS?

Doesn't matter the PS3 has outsold the 360 for two months in a row now (the PS2 even outsold it in February) without any killer games. Then once MGS 4 comes out it will sell even more.

The PS1 had Crash Bandicoot: Warped, Tekken 3, Gran Turismo, Gran Turismo 2, Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy Tactics, Xenogears, Syphon Filter, Vagrant Story. Theres some other titles I am missing as well.nVidiaGaMer

Fixed for accuracy. That's a pretty bad track record considering their lifespan.

we are on GS forums, so he was using GS scores. if you dont use GS scores, at least use metacritic or Gamerankings, not whatever site gives the game that you like the highest score

Well you thought wrong.....It was high-end about 7 months ago (PC Gaming FTMFW :roll: ) when I purchaed most of it (except for the vid card....don't care enough to get rid of)

Dude, they gave Shenmue on the DC a 7.8 when IGN gave it a 9.7, and when the average score is 89%. They've given almost ever FF game in existence AAA...I gotta be honest with you, I bought MGS when it came out, and it was a lot of fun, but never once did I think it was the greatest PS1 game ever, as a lot of gaming mags were claiming (PSM put it above FFVII at the time, I believe). The point is, maybe the reviewer just didn't enjoy MGS as much as you did.

The 360 is outselling the PS3 because it came out a year before the PS3, but so far this year the PS3 has more revenue and if this trend continues the X360 is dead for sure. :D

On the other hand, you can argue that the PS3 only sold as well as it did last year because it was its first year. And even if the PS3 continues to outsell the 360, the 360 will never be "dead", simply because it's doing well, and the install base is extremely faithful when it comes to buying games; this is why you see Capcom rushing to put games on the 360, and why even SquareEnix is getting into the action.
