As Home is being ad-supported, there is good likelihood that Sony will be able to keep its promise of offering Home and PSN for free.

Do you think Microsoft will make XBL free as a result?

Why or why not?

Xbox Live is the only major Money maker for M$(Xbox brand), so I don't see it happening.

They get money from Ad companies to show us ads.

They get money for devs to run their games.

They get money from us to play those games.

The sell us Digital Themes and movies...

It's a cash cow.

I can see Microsoft ramping up content to show the difference between the two.  Making it free, not so much.

thats a lie, it doesnt take 1 million dollars to run servers. and MS makes 300 million a year off of just the subscriptions alone, so until they start losing money they wont stop charging.

I don't think the xbox live should be free if we loose out on multiplayer games.  You see games released for both systems but the 360 is the only version that gets multiplayer.

Plus i don't think MS have to worry untill Sony fix the problems with PSN.

They have promised alot of features in Home but only some of the features will be included at the start and hopefully the rest will come later.  Also i have read game developers asking Sony for the tools for Home so they can include it in there games but Sony hasn't got it ready yet which mean it will be some time before you will be using Home and your games together.

no that has to do with the interview with the maker of "killer 7" and "no more heroes". he said if they released the tools or engine as middleware it would be much easier to take advantage of the hardware and he was excited about that.
