Will Red Dead 2 be better than GTA 5?

Anything can be better than GTA. RDR1 was better than GTA so obviously RDR 2 will be better than GTA too.

Yes, easily. But that's because GTA5 just wasn't that good.

I enjoyed the first RDR more than GTAV so it's not a leap to say RDR2 will probably be better than it as well.

Story wise yes 100% don't think anyone played gta for the story.

Depends on what you are looking for. GTA will always be the first choice for goofing around, ain't no carriages gonna beat running from the police in a smashed up car. Story wise? RDR2 will almost surely beat it.

First person RDR 2 on PC will blow anything gta out of water.

it will release next year. or in 2020. but it will one day.

also shooting will feel much better in first person. first person mean more immersive.

I just like the Western-theme and I think the satire/humor in GTA is pretty poor so RDR wins every time for me. Will it be a better game? R* always try to push and now they've had a few years to do so. Interesting with the more simulation direction and to see if it will be tedious or immersive. But yeah I think RDR2 will be fantastic!

Won't be too hard to achieve. GTA 5 was great but wasn't anything special. It was more GTA, however extremely polished and insanely high production values. RDR 2 looks breathtaking at times. I think it'll be better.

It looks like any other open world game, @Cloud_imperium am I missing something? "Breath Taking" .... how? it looks middle of the road graphically... the gunplay just looks basic b*tch .... seems like a horse traveling simulator with Grand Theft Auto style story telling.

What the hell is with the pedestal for this game...? based on the theme alone, you simply can't have anywhere near the same variety, creativity or content.

Considering the thematic it will probably be more to my taste.

Well, the first Red Dead Redemption was far better than GTA 5, so it seems likely that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be better as well. I haven't enjoyed a GTA game since Vice City.

I'm not sure since Read Dead might turn out into an empty open world similar to Phantom Pain.(Which itself copied from the first RDR)

This whole having few interesting places in a giant map may hurt this game.

That's not saying much as GTA 5 sucks. RDR1 was average too.

well, I'm not one of those hipsters who says GTA V sucks. It was fucking great.

that said, I thought RDR was better than GTA IV/V and RDR2 has the potential to be better than all of them.

While I love GTA V my preference lies with Red Dead Redemption so I do think that I’ll end up enjoying RDR 2 more.

I've been more partial to the wild western setting than the urban one used in GTA V. I enjoy the vast expanses and beautiful vistas, the nature, hunting, horses, etc. Roaming around slowly on horseback or leading it peacefully by the reins through the various environments is going to be great. GTA's appeal to me has always been it's over-the-top nature whereas I've found RDR feels to be much more grounded and organic in its world building and pacing. It's one to relax and take all the attention to detail in instead of look for ways to blow **** up. Hearing now that all weapons that can be carried will be shown on Arthur's person while the rest will be on his horse, little details like this make me appreciate the game world all the more and lends it a sense of tangibility and plausibility.

GTA's always fun for a chaotic, satirical-laden romp to sow chaos, but I've never found much more appeal in its worlds than that. What's "better" is entirely subjective, but I know which one I prefer. GTA's welcome is wearing thin (until R* gets off their asses and drastically mixes up the tired formula), while RDR is just hitting its stride. The 26th can't come soon enough.

May be because I'm Westworld fan. BTW I can see where you are coming from. Wild West was one of my least favorite settings too. Turned out it was the material that didn't execute the setting properly instead of setting itself being boring. Wild West is pretty interesting when done right. I think Red Dead does it right.

The original Red Dead Redemption is still better than any GTA ever made imo so yea it’ll be better.

Surpassing a good game isn't an impossible feat. GTA5 was good, but I feel R* shone brightly with RDR.

You own an Xbox One so you know more about sucking than I do.

I own a XB1X, and a PS4, so I know about playing the best version of multiplats on console, and yes... I also know how boring and similar many of the PS4's exclusives are.

As far as sucking? Ehhhh, you're limited to PS4, so yeah... It must suck to be you.

PS4/PC here, bub, where I can play that ONE Xbox release a year that's not a total waste of time. Best of all worlds here.

I'm a huge GTA fan, been hooked ever since I played GTA3 on PS2. But RDR feels more fresh for me overall, I love the Western setting and it is a setting that is rare to find in gaming. I felt RDR1 held up well when I finished it recently. RDR2 is going to eclipse that game, so personally I am more looking forward to it than I would be a GTA game at this time. I find the large old west open world more relaxing overall, it will be so much fun exploring it. I think I will end up liking it more than GTA 5 overall.

How is a PC not relevant to the discussion when all of Xbox's games are on it? MS made all your games multiplat and you're still arguing the virtue of the X1X. It's not a defense on my end, it's a reality. I, and many others, don't have to buy your dumb box, and judging from the figures, they're not. At least you and your box have something in common... losers.

I think so. I applaud R* for their ambition with GTA5, but I think the multiple playable protagonists hurt the game in the long run. I think the pacing and narrative in RDR will benefit from its focus on a single playable character.

The virtue of the XB1X is that it will play games such as GTA5 and RDR2 much better than any Playstaion. Both of which btw are confirmed to be better than any PS4 exclusives. If that hurts your feelings, or makes you feel second rate, then get an XB1X, and get the most out of both those games. Calling me a loser while limiting yourself to play RDR2 on PS4 is hilarious. Quit drinking the Haterade.

I do think it will be a better overall game. Rockstar keeps pushing forward with their ambition. Everything gets more polish and more depth. I'd say their attention to detail is mostly unmatched.

My main worry is that the game will become too tedious as a result of it's depth. I understand the importance of caring for my horse, but at what point does it become a chore rather than part of a video game?

Will also come down to taste. I can see some people resisting a western, especially with all the battle royal games and FPS coming out at the same time.

Regardless, they've earned the benefit of the doubt from me.

And PC plays those games much better than Xbox. What's your point? You forget Xbox's main console is the underpowered S, but that's not the reason it's selling bad. It's because Sony's games are just better. According to you. Rockstar games > Sony games >>>>>>>>>>> Xbox games.
