Capcom has killed the Megaman Franchise, and basically blunty told us they don't give a crap about BOF with BOF6. They already killed Ghosts and Goblins. They dropped Final Fight, They just told us they were having no interest in darkstalkers. I have a bad feeling about the new strider game, what do they have left? The answer is Street Fighter, Resident Evil, and Ace Attorney. Ace attorney despite it being debatable that it is being milked still has a following that makes it Capcoms only real cash cow on handhelds. So it will be either Resident Evil or Street Fighter. After the Ultra SF announcement, and Resident Evil 6 being a complete mess it's only a matter of time. But which one?

Both are still very commercially viable. They won't be going anywhere, anytime soon.

New Strider looks awesome. Street Fighter 4 is loved so nope and Resident Evil Revelations was well received so its not dieing either. None of their franchises are getting killed.

Nah, would have to be a bird-centric franchise ... the nest franchise that gets killed.

Banjo Kazooie or something.

Resident Evil is already dead for those who have standards.  But people will continue to play it no matter how bad it gets for nostalgia.

Couldn't care less about street fighter. They won't kill RE anytime soon. It may be terrible, but it still sells millions. It needs another reboot, which is quite funny considering its had 2 already.

All capcom have to do to Resident Evil is go back to it's roots and it's possible they could have a major hit on their hands.

The only way for RE to get back to its prime is outsourcing it to either Tango Gameworks or naughty dog, and I think SF is doing ok but capcom have to go easy with the milking.

Which are like Resident Evil 4. People need to realize that Resident Evil 4 was actual the wrong direction from what the series was said to be known for. Survival horror. Resident Evil 5 and 6 are the way they are because of 4. While I never saw the franchise as a horror series, Resident Evil 4 is pretty much a straight Third-Person shooter with zombies.

Agreed. Tomb Raider was a Action puzzle game... mostly puzzle and a trial and error type of game where you was careful where you set your foot on. The new one is just a 3rd person shooter to me.

The exageration was way off.... While 4 was obviously fictional it still ramained more or less on the ground. On 5 it's like a mindless action movie.. you can probably jump off a building shotting things in mid air and live.. in part 4 you felt a bit more vulnerable and had to be a bit more careful. Resident evil has been rewarding careless gameplay too much and i think that's what is ruining the series... ( asides from the stupid horrible fking story now ) the fact that you can Rambo it's silly and takes away the whole mood of what the game once was, careless playing should be punished.. not rewarded.

Even though I was alone in RE4, I didn't feel vulnerable , it was just as action oriented as 5, even Seperate Ways was like that aswell or did you mean the part where you play as a frightened teenager (Ashley) ?

They're already dead as far as I'm concerned. I hate Street Fighter IV and all variations and I HATE Street Fighter x Tekken. As far as Resident Evil goes, the only good games they've put out since Mikami left are light gun shooters. 5, 6, ORC, and Revelations are awful.

It wasn't the design choices that killed Resident Evil IMO, what was most wrong was the lack of polish on the entire game, and that's a problem that's plagued other Capcom titles the last few years. I didn't much mind the episodic multiple story lines, IMO it's only natural to take on such an approach when bringing along online multiplayer co-op. I felt as long as the evolution of gameplay mechanics went they did just right by that. The game still sold pretty well, last I remember it broke 5 million pretty easy. So it's nowhere near the end of its life, and people are probably going to be eager to see what a next gen console can do for the franchise. Street Fighter on the other hand, I don't know. I kind of worry they're over-saturating the market with newer versions of SFIV, I don't think the franchise will die necessarily, but I do think that it'll need to go into some kind of hibernation until a more appropriate time to revive it. I do think there's potential though to keep it alive though through franchise crossover if all else fails.

No. Street fighter will keep getting more and more paid DLC to milk it, it will get another "super mega ultra street fighter 4 turbo championship" version release at retail, and eventually when the cocain bucket runs dry they will do a 5.

Resident evil will get another spinoff thing like revelations, and then they will probablly reboot the series and make it just as shitty as the last couple entries focusing more on action.

Capcom is in such a pathetic disarray. Resident Evil is dead after Giraffe Fellatio. Street Fighter is milked. Ace Attorney isn't getting great treatment besides the upcoming Layton crossover.

How is a franchise that sells 5 millions copies dead? And had well received port in Revelations? I will be buying the next Resident Day One Nd it is still top two franchise for me with Tomb Raider. Might nr nostalgia, but they are both still great to me.

USF4 being released next year is a clear sign that SF is very healthy.  RE6 on the other hand did so poorly that a handheld out did it in the same year and had to be released on consoles to attempt to keep people's faith in the series and if that worked is kind of a question.  Capcom has plenty more series out there that do worse but the one that seems to stick out to me the most is Lost Planet while the original was considered good enough to try out a sequel the sequel got very poor reviews and they are attempting to reboot the series already, I'm assuming that this will go poorly and Lost Planet will get the axe.Â
