Will Sony fans fall for the "hidden power" thing again for the PS4 ?

The hidden power thing is nothing new. I remember when they released the PS2 they showed CGI demos and said the PS2 will offer those Toys Story graphics, it never did. They also talked about how the PS2 should not be exported from the US to Iraq because Saddam would buy a bunch of PS2 cheaply instead of super computers to simulate nuclear stuff and what not.

To some extent, yep.

I remember seeing a video of a GBA running Resident evil 2 and it looked like a DS game, it was cool. If devs took their time with their games, and it is late in a consoles life span, they could easily create visuals that far surpass anything on the console already, even though people believe the console is 'maxed out'

That wasn't very clever really because I highly doubt MS is going to make such a big mistake again with their build quality, Sony sorted their act out after the DRE issues and look how well Nintendo has turned things around learning from their mistakes.

it is, i get console multiplats like GTAIV and superiour versions of games like mass effect and bioshock. i supose you would like me to buy a ps3? all i would gain from that is the ps3's exclusive library, which is uber weak. so yes i was smart.

Imo it's a smarter choice to go for PC + PS3 or PC + WII rather than PC + 360 considering most good 360 'exclusives' are going to PC.

3. The hidden power of the PS2 is its ability to do bumpmaping wich is a DX9 function(the PS2 is considered a DX8 )

Ironically, those games demonstrate hardware performance far above the competition too. So it's a win win for Sony.

They might just rebrand the PS3 as a PS4 and say the put more hidden powah in it when the next xbox releases. This way they can keep their promise of a 10year life of the PS3.

Their fanbase will still buy it.

Theoretically, the PS3 does infact still have allot of hidden power. however, i'm not saying its going to pull out a few pokemons from under its belt or cast magic spells. in the sense that the PS3 complex architecture has yet to be pushed to its full potential, it does still have 'hidden' power.

Well yeah, all this over the top hype is nothing new with Sony, but most of these claims were made by the creator, Ken Kutagari. Well since he got fired, the Playstation will never be the same. This could be a good thing or it could be a bad thing, but one thing that will live on is Just Wait.

Being milked is something alot of u lemmings dont understand, lol. Seriously if I wanted to pay 50 bux a year for in game music and achievements that is such a waste of money if u ask me. And this is just xbox live.

Also if u are some1 who plays games wirelessly like I do and u own an xbox 360, well guess what u have to buy a wifi adaptor which is another 80 bux.

Then there is also batteries which u have to buy all the time because MS didnt give us a cord that charges xbox 360 controllers.

All these things come out the box when buying a PS3, so I dont see how u can say ps3 owners liked getting milked when u guys are actually getting milked even more. And I feel bad for those who went out and bought an HD-DVD player since HD-DVD is now dead. talk about getting milked. And ill be honest, I own all 3 consoles but those reasons what I stated in my post are reasons I decided to play my online games on my ps3 because to me having achievements and in game music isnt enough for me to cough up more money just to play xbox live. Call me dumb but I aint the one getting screwed.

You make a good point. After all, as soon as MS found out about the hardware problems causing RROD, they jumped right on the issue and fixed it. The stopped selling knowingly faulty hardware to the public and made sure anyonw who had already got an RROD got new hardware that wouldn't RROD again.

Oh wait. No they didn't. They continue to make, ship and sell hardware they KNOW is faulty and prone to failure. Why? Because they know lemmings will gladly buy broken hardware if MS tells them its cool.

But I'm sure they won't do this next gen.

Gee kind of reminds me of this other company that did the same exact thing for 2 gens. As a matter of fact, it took 5 years and a lost lawsuit and they STILL denied the existence of any problems. Then this company has the audicity to pund their chests and proclaim themselves unstoppable and feel the need to tell their loyalists what features they want and don't want in a system. All the while overhyping everything about their system and under delivering. Funny thing is, these loyalists thank them and try to slam on fans of any other system.

Sony does a great job showing you a "vision" that is a target for them to reach. It's never a sure thing that what you see at a conference is what you will always get. So, it's never a promises or a commitment to actually have everything they mention. This is a great opportunity for Anti-Sony haters to twist the campaign into a positive one into a negative one. The hype is always caused by two people, the misinformed and the schemist.

The misinformed is a Sony supporter, but always gets the information wrong. He then spreads that bad information as though it was fact, and use it as a flaunting tool for the Anti-Sony foes. For instance, PS3 is X times more powerful than the 360.

The schemist is the person who hangs on every word and then twist them to make it seems as it's illogical and a fallacy. For example, Sony says, the PS3 can do 4d graphics. Sony never said 4D "graphics". Now, Sony is being held to show something they never said it could. In the end, making them look like liars and giving false "promises".
