Will Sony reach it's goal of selling 11 million by End of Fiscal Year ?

Sony is standing at 6-7 million sold right now so they have until March 08 to sell another 4-5 million. Do you think it's possible and explain your answer ?

It's all going to be based on their holiday sales world wide. If they can sell 1 million in NOvember and more than that in December (world wide), then they have a good shot at pulling it off. I don't know if it will actually happen or not, but based on what we've been seeing for Wii and 360 sales so far, I don't think selling 2 million PS3s in the next two months is that far off base.

I agree. Its the games that sells consoles and not the other way around. They need a systemseller and so far they have none.

depends how good of a christmas they have and what games come out in Jan-Mar. If they get LittleBigPlanet, Home, MGS4, andKillzone 2 all out in that same timeframe it will move a lot of systems. But it will still be very close for them to make that target.

if they end up short they will switch to shipped numbers instead of sold which will make it look a little better for them. But actual sold units will be very hard but not impossible.

My guess is no, but it does seem to be picking up steam though.

No it is selling okay at the moment but with the lack of quality games I don't it will.

If vgchartz.com is to be believed, the PS3 has only sold 6.3 million worldwide as of last week.

Keep in mind after December, console sales drop signincantly world wide.

Sony may "ship" (i.e.: Manufacture) 11 million by the end of March 08. Whether they actually sell that is another story.

Going into this holiday season Sony does indeed have some great games like UT3, Heavenly Sword, R&C, Uncharted. I reckon it's definitely possible for Sony to reack 11 million by March 08. oh and isn't GTA4 comingFeb 08, I'm sure this will help towards reaching the goal.Swift_Boss_A

No chance in hell. They'll make about 7.5-8.0 million by March 08. Wii will be over 17 million and XBox 360 will be at around 15.5 million by that time.

You do realize that if you do the math, that would mean Sony would have to NOT see a sales increase this month or next?

On average, since launch, Sony has sold 500,000 PS3s a month world wide. Assuming they currently have 6 million sold, which seems to be the general viewpoint, and considering there is only 5 more months until the end of the fiscal year...that would mean only 600,000 a month world wide. We already know that PS3 sales in Japan are roughly triple what they have been in the past. We also know that retailers have reported PS3 sales during this past week to be triple as well. Not to mention Christmas is they busiest shopping season when console sales double, at a minimum.

Finally, we know the PS3 had a price drop with the introduction of the 40gig unit starting the begining of November.

After all of this, you think that Sony will only move 500,000 total consoles morethanaverage (100,000 a month for 5 months)?During a time when the console has some games and is comparably priced?

If is SHIPPING 11 Million PS3 by March 08, they should make that goal easily, since Sony includes PS3 that are shipped to their wharehouses in the tally. :lol: All they have to do is ship another 3 million to their wharehouses, 1 million to retailers and call it a night. They should be about to sell a million units this holiday season. They sold about 800,000 units last holiday.

So you think the PS3 will only sell roughly 2 million units over the next 5 months? That is only an average of 400,000 a month world wide. That is 100,000 a month LESS than Sony's current monthly world wide average of 500,000. Keep in mind, that includes the shortages from last holiday season AND when the PS3 was much more money?

You actually think sales are going to decrease from normal over this Christmas season and the following months?

Or like how MS announced they had sold 11 million consoles shortly after Christmas last year...and here were are almost a year later and they are still around 12 or 13 million?

Shipped will easily be 11million, if not 12-14mil

Sold will be somewhere around 10.5million, unless Holiday sales are far greater than expected.

On a side note, the x360 should be around 16-18mil in March08.
