Will System Wars Even Be Necessary?

I think each console can have its own market/audience, but we are clearly looking at firmly established roles for each company/console if things continue to progress down the route they have.

Good topic. 

This is something I was hoping for the gen, three unique systems each with a markedly different approach. 

The System War train cannot be derailed. Despite their differences, comparisons will be attempted. 

There will always be idiots who will try to compare things that are either identical or so vastly different they are incomparable. There will also always be those of us with time to kill who will laugh at their stupidity. So yes SW will carry on.

WiiU for Nintendo's 1st party games and niche 3rd party games, Xbox One for multi-media, Xbox exclusives and multi-plats, PS4 for PS exclusives and multi-plats.

It's not the number of exclusives, it's the comparable hardware. It allowed for more arguing over graphics, specs, multiplats, controllers, etc. Well, at least more sensible arguments.

I think the Lems should just pack up and leave at this point,the new Xbox is barely a games console at all.

PS4 is a more powerful,more games-centric,WiiU is a bit of a joke right now but will eventually have all the games nintendo fans want.

This coming gen Sony/Nintendo fans will be playing games and M$ fans will be watching lots of TV.LOL

It seems to me like there are a lot of similarities between the PS4 and Xbox One, and as long as games are released for multiple platforms, I think System Wars will exist. As long as people can compare the gameplay of one system directly the gameplay of another, system wars has a gathering of people who will debate which is better. But, hey, that's just my opinion.

Sony is going after the 'hardcore' and enthusiast group, Nintendo is going after the casual and long-time-Ninty-fan crowd, and Microsoft is trying to take over your living room with one monster box of 'entertainment' with gaming itself as an afterthought.
