Will the GTA franchise be able ot crush the Mario franchise in reviews again.

We all know GTA4 was able to tie in review scores with SMG2 on GS and it beat both SMG games on Metacritc.Will GTA5 continue this trend or will be a poor GTA game compared to GTA4 in reviews.I don't care about review scores that much.This is just a question.

I didn't enjoy any of them :(

GTA IV was complete garbage. San Andreas was the last good GTA. Having said this, I am really looking forward to GTA V.

Everything about GTA4 is hot garbage. The dialogue so comically bad its physically painful to listen to, the "story"/writing is terrible, the gameplay is so underbaked/underdeveloped its not even funny (its actually worse than Saints Row, which in itself is an underbaked/underdeveloped game gameplaywise), and the graphics are some of the worst, most uninspired I have EVER seen on consoles.

Im so tired of PS3/360 graphics and everything looking like paper mache/cardboard. Animations, shooting mechanics, driving mechanics, the camera, etc...

If they make the game more like Red Dead Redemption, however, I WILL be hyped for it. I liked Red Dead Redemption, and L.A. Noire because they were different time periods and VERY underused settings in videogames so it was unique (and for this same reason I am hyped for AGENT). But how many times have we seen the GTA-esque setting in games? I feel like theGTA franchise is just there for fan service but if they can get the script writing up to the standards RDR and L.A. Noire set, Ill be good.

Since its one of the biggest franchises on the planet with insane amounts of talent and money spent on its development, then it could. I don't expect anything less then a 94 on Metacritic to be honest, and that's kind of reaching the lower ends of what I expect (I expect around a 97 or so).

I will tell you that GTA is more popular and will sell better and GTAV will probaply get a 10 here.TheGuardian03

A 10 is a rare thing, and a series managing to get a perfect 10 TWICE in one generation at these odds is almost unfathomable. Heck, GS has given other amazing games like Red Dead Redemption and Bioshock 9.0's, not even 9.5's, so a 10 isn't a given unless it is a flawless game.

Even then, the reviewer might still find something to criticize and knock off .5 for ("its too big!").

It's pretty apparent that the Mario Galaxies (which is even more impressive considering that their are 2 games of such high quality from the same franchise this gen) had both love from publications and the general gaming community, while GTA 4 certainly had the publications, but the gaming community's opinion was much more mixed.

gta4 was a big jump for the series really and i doubt they were bought considering 3,VC and SA all scored really high across the board for being....good games.

Hey, Ill agree as much as the next man that GTA4 was hot garbage (and reviews were paid for) but Red Dead Redemption and L.A. Noire earned their scores. RDR is the best game this gen imo. StrongDeadlift

I'll concede to RDR because I think western is boring as f*** so I won't argue against it for not being my thing, but LA Noire was steaming garbage. Started out good then got worse and worse as I played it.

GTA4 is the best game in the series, one of the best games this gen, and it deserved every bit of praise it received on release.

You all piss and moan about how franchises fail to evolve, yet bash GTA4 because it wasn't like San Andreas. Oh the irony...

Every time I see people say GTA IV's scores were bought, I die a little inside.

The game deserved the scores, and it is the best in the series. It's better than RDR (Although not by much) and much, much better than LA Noire could ever hope to be.

I think a far more relevant question will be "Will game reviewing sites be able to ignore the Hype-icane that will follow GTA V?" It was a welcome realisation when people started to get over the hype and realise that GTA IV was just another GTA with not that much special about it. It's like Skyrim nowadays, how people have realised that it really wasn't that great a game and was more hype than anything.

If GTAV is this gen's San Andreas(Strange new game mechanics (like Gang Wars and Obesity for instance), HUGE city with a vast variety of locations, unique and dramatic storyline, etc) it should get crazy high scores. I would like there to be a bigger focus on exploration, with more buildings that you can go inside, and lots of side quests and minigames you can do.

I also would like it if they bade a Bully 2, or something similar. Maybe a more adult oriented, College version of Bully for us adults.

I sure hope GTAV is as good as IV,or even better.

Those 2 aren't even in the same category.

Ones a linear platform game full of magic and plumbers.

The other's a sandbox shoot-em-up where the goal is to run over as many people as possible for no god damn reason other than it's fun.

Who cares if GTA beats it in reviews if the games appeal to two different types of gamers.

Also, last time I checked, a tie and 98 opposed to 97 on both games (which both beat it in user reviews) doesn't equal crushing.
