ps2 is still alive yet the 20 gig and 60 gig ps3 are dead.

ps2 still getting good games that could really help the ps3 right now.

if ur gonna bring out a 600$ system why not have god of war 2, wildarms 5, and others recent good ps2 only games be made for the ps3???

If Sony decide to keep the PS2 going long enough it could certainly challenge the wii. Especially at $100.

With the way the Wii is being presented (a cheap and accessible console), Son is at a major advantage, since in theory at least, the PS2 could keep going in competition with it for a long time.

Because Sony doesn't want to leave the 115 million strong PS2 userbase out in the cold. The PS3 will still be able to do well even if some good games continue to appear on the PS2. There's the next installment in each franchise to look forward to for the PS3.

Don't worry The PS3 will last at least 6~7 years. The PS2 just have a couple of years left.

untill now thats what everybody does when it releases its next gen system. ps2 has 500 games or more to choose from if some1 buys a new ps2 now that was their choice to buy it on its death bed. why should ps3 owners suffer.example when i go to walmart to look at the ps3 games its in a tiny case not even in the main row as the other systems and games. ps3 should be front and center not the ps2. i almost missed wathawk when i went up to buy it it was in with ps2 games. maybe thats why the ps3 aint doing so well.

The PS3 is doing fine, not great, but fine. Sony wants to make money, that's it. Right now there is more money to be made via the PS2 userbase still wanting to purchase consoles and games than the PS3. This will of course (as with the PS1 to PS2 transition) change. Sony aren't going to completely cut off their userbase like MS did to the Xbox owners last gen.

Everybody knows the PS3 is there, but while its still so expensive it doesn't matter where in the store they put it, people won't buy it. Once the new SKU is released (if it hasn't been already in the US, not sure) then that will likely change. Either way, the PS3 has plenty of good games to look forward to, many of them are well known and proven franchises. The PS2 is still well and trully alive and kicking, Sony don't want to kill it yet.
