I've heard rumors that the original game had disc problems or so, something to that effect? I've actually been waiting for this release for a while now, as well as many others, but I don't want to drop down the 10 bucks until I can bes sure it runs smoothly.

I'm sure it will be fine, though i'm not 100%. I'll be buying it to play on my PSP regardless.

There is a homebrew emulator that plays the game just fine, don't see why an official one wouldn't work.

I've never played the game, so I couldn't say. Good to hear that the issue may not be an issue at all.

The only known major issue is the game freezing when Deus does that half HP attack thingy. I played it on the PS3 without any issue at all.

I'm assuming Baker is talking about the way the PS3 displays PS1 games horrendously on HDTV's. It's not bad if you put a lot of distance between you and the TV, but at normal viewing distance, some games can be damn ugly. To be fair, considering how old PS1 games are, it's better than nothing.

It's technically because the PS3 is just displaying more detail. The smoothing function on the PS3 is smarter than the PS2 function, but it can look a little off. The best way is to try to emulate what happens with the PS2 when you upscale, which means switching to 4:3 mode on the TV.

I never had any issues with this game while playing it. Only old game I've had issues with in my software backwards compatible PS3 was Xenosaga, it got stuck like 30 hours into the game and couldn't get past that part so I couldn't finish it :(

That's terrible. Did you get rid of your PS2? From what I understand, PS3 isn't BC with the 2nd title anyways (cutscenes get garbled).

I haven't played too many PS1 games on my PS3, so I forget some of the options. I always display in 4:3 though, otherwise it just looks awful (for the most part). Playing FFIX on my PSP whilst stretched just looks off.

Lets see ps1 games on ps3 when you dont run them in non hd modes look very bad? Final Fantasy 8 for example was so horribly pixelated I found it very hard to even play it this is the ps3 it should have had far better graphical filters and other such drivers running to make ps1 games look better. Other sources have em Ps3 should have as well. At this point turning the resolution to 480p, setting it to 4:3, and turning off upscaling completely and just running with smoothing makes Final Fantasy 8 playable along with a load of other games. P.S: the simple fact is these games should be receiving a heck of allot of post processing from the Cell stuff other methods have in abundance but we didn't get that which is why I usually still stick with the ps2 when it comes to my ps1 games no need to change settings and games actually look a little better because of native ps1 hardware.

The problem was with the first game, I guess an emulation problem and since I had my save on the PS3 I couldn't just start playing it on the PS2 from that point on so I desisted and has since sold my PS2 with all the games. Maybe someday I'll play it.

I'm talking about going into the resolution options of your PS3 and switching from HD to SD resolution.

If there are any ACTUAL emulation problems like freezes and glitches rest assured theyll be patched soon. Other than that theres just display issues from what I hear. Just screw around with configurations.

They do game specific patches.
