lets face it, friend codes are silly. brawl is so laggy its slower than molasses and most wii games dont even have a way to talk to other people you meet or add them to a friends list. its like playing online blindfolded running around in a cardboard box. i mean even xbl is better than that, though neither of them can touch psn. so i have to ask wii owners if they even bother with online at all

Mario Kart Wii has good online, sure it has no friend codes and no mics. But the actual online part of it, finding races and connections are good.

Brawl runs fine for me. Mario Kart Wii runs fine for me. Other than that, I don't really use the Wii online.

Dunno, it just runs fine. I haven't had much problems with online matches aside from a few exceptions.

the day there is a universal friend system (even having ON friend code would be better than the current system)

No... and for some reason everyone uses Super smash bros. brawl as an excuse not to include online, or defend it when a game that should absolutely have online doesn't have it which is absolutely ridiculous. Mario kart was good online.., so they proved it can work

Well, to be honest, I don't want nintendo letting people chat without friend codes, and needing both players to enter a friend code insures that people are only friends with others they know.

It's a bit annoying, but so far not one game has REQUIRED you to use them to play online (Maybe Animal Crossing does, but I haven't played it).

Now, for a lot of games not supporting voice chat at all, yeah, that's a bummer. So is needing a different code for each game. Why can't we just use the wii code?

There are games with good online though. Mario Kart is a perfect example of online play done right in a wii game.

There are many games on the Wii which have good online. The problem is getting past the friend code.

I've played mario kart online but aside from that I don't have any interest in online. If I did I'd get my XBOX connected to live. I care about single player.

the wii does not focus on online play acording to nintendo; their focus is on good innovative games that will seell; iits single plaeyr games are good (like paper mario etc)

thinking about their staretegy, it is working well

mario kart is probably the best

brawl works too, when you have friends matches

though both of those have no voice chat

but animal crossing has no problems what so ever,

havent tryed the conduits online yet, probably never will

Nintendo chose not to focus on online multiplayer and instead went towards local offline multiplayer. Online for several games is adequate and the friend codes, while annoying, prevent a lot of random annoying friends and chat.

None of this will change. Wii online will always be less functional and developed than the HD twins, but that isn't the point of the system.

After the nightmare that was trying to add someone on my friend's list, I'm praying that Nintendo's next system would do something a little better.

No. I think the Wii's successor will. I swear, I hope Nintendo doesn't screw up the Wii's successor, it seems like it will be so easy because the Wii was already a massive success despite having some huge shortcomings. It seems so easy, address those shortcomings while further promoting the things that made you big in the first place.

I mean all Nintendo has to do from a hardware perspective.

Improve the CPU/GPU combo to something capable of 360/PS3 Graphics

Add a hard-drive

Updated Wii-mote with motion-plus technology built-in

PSN/Live type of online system (it could even be more basic but they need actual friend's list and online chat)

From a software standpoint

Have new & improved versions of Wii Fit, Wii Sports, and Brain Training ready early in the system's life.

Make sure the system does not miss out on the big 3rd party exclusives from here on.

Do all that, and the Wii's successor would be a slam dunk.
