[QUOTE="alexLmx6"]Nintendo would be dumb to make another underpowered system, since the Wii U isn't going to have the same gimmick sales they got with the Wii. There actually have to be games to play on it this time.

It would be dumb to make an over powered and over priced system. The low price of Wii was a key factor in it's success. Nintendo was dumb to release such an underpowered system with such a small "power" leap over the gamecube, but they got away with it because the Wii became a fad among casuals - which is something that is NEVER gauranteed. We can chalk it up to brilliant marketing, or sheer luck. But I don't think they can get away with that strategy again in a home console, at least they shouldn't COUNT on it repeating itself.
Sony was dumb for launching their system at $699 and *STILL* losing money on each unit sold. What's worse was that even with the insanely high price point, the GPU wasn't even that powerful and it was lacking overall ram. At least it got blu-ray out the door, and being a movie fan I'm happy enough about that. The games aren't bad either, but of course the hardware is not what it could/should have been for being $699 at launch.
Whoever we are talking about next gen, the aim should be to have a system priced in the $299-399 range, and make the system as powerful as possible but still fitting in the price range without taking anything more than a slight unit loss at launch (moving towards profit within a year or two at max). Sony took too much of a loss on the PS3, and Nintendo was too intent on making their system "cheap" from day 1. Next gen they need to find somewhere in the middle. I can tell you I'm not happy that Nintendo seems to be wasting alot of resources on the touch screen, I hope that doesn't take away from the actual hardware...
