will the x1 pass the ps4 in the US before years end?

As of the 7th of Dec USA TODAY had the numbers as

PS4 selling 107k that week and a total of 1.32m

X1 selling 163k that week and a total of 1.17

Sony biggest shipment is today and will be in all stores tomorrow but looks like they are shipping less than the x1

so will X1 catch up by years end?

I hope that the X1 does just fine and competes as much as possible.... however anyone who believes those numbers are the ones MS already had in the bag in the first place.

I don't know. It seems hard at this point but regardless the system is selling well. If they wanted to definitely catch up they should slice the price (which will not happen) on the XBO and that would make things interesting.

Those % is based on the fact that sony didn't have enough consoles to sell after launch,because they had to build numbers for the release in EU and has 32 countries in total to feed units,while MS has only 13.

Even so MS failed to reach 1 million units in 24 hours like sony did,and sold 909k in 9 days which is 10 times slower than the PS4 by the same average you want to apply here.

Who knows with more countries to feed sony can ship less units to US,all depends on how much is sony ahead on US and speculation put it half a million ahead 1.4 vs 909k.

ms has pretty much lost all of their territories. they'll be playing catch up all gen.

XBOX ONE seems to be more popular in North America, so I don't doubt it will outsell the PS4 in North America (both in the short term and long term). However, worldwide it's anyone's guess as to which will sell more in the long term.

Xbox will beat the ps4 in dec npd. Will It completely catch up? It will be close. When march comes along with titanfall you will see xbox one pull ahead and never look back.

XBone sold worldwide what Sony sold in the US in 24 hours. No chance. Even stupid panicky parents who can't find a ps4 for their kid will pause and wonder why that pallet of $500 xbones is still sitting there a week before Christmas.

@XBOunity: Ps4 have one more shipment before Christmas and I don't thing you will see another shipment until after the 10th of JAN but the x1 has two more shipments and sending some more to bestbuy and Amazon on the 8th of JAN its gonna be hard for sony to keep up the demand everyone wants a ps4 as it seems.

50/50 in the US, blown out everywhere else. Sales of the PS4 will be 33% higher than the Xbone by the end of the gen.

BTW, Xbone might be able to close the gap a little this month but when the supply issues are ironed out in January the Xbone is gonna eat the PS4's dust. They'll barely cling on to relevance in the US and that will be the death knell for the Xbox brand.

I'm so sick of hearing about supply and demand on video game forums. You guys don't know jack. If you take scalpers out of the equation, sony and microsoft botg have more than enough supply to meet demand. Every forum has the same stupid threads. "Ps4 is sold out everywhere!" Ummm no its not. You have had a ton of chances to get one of these things. Fanboys are acting like you're trying to find Bin Laden. All you have to do is know when they are coming in stock and show up before Joe blow scalper gets there and buy one. Easy. The real sales of these systems starts in January when the scalping season is done. Most of the people I know don't want a ps4 because it has no games and they don't want a xbone because its too expensive. Now on topic, unmmm who cares???? Is this generation over in January or am I missing something? Because no one is winning this thing in 2 months. Can Xbox overtake ps4? Sure. Will it last? Who knows. I have a ton of people on my 360 friends list that want one but they can't afford it. So there are a lot of potential sales there for Microsoft. But they might not see those sales until they drop the price. So ps4 might hold an edge there just out of anger from frustrated 360 fans that can't afford the xbone.

Wiiu couldn't be scalped, I tried. The ps4 can be scalped, so it does have demand, a lot actually. Xbone may slightly pass ps4 in the shipped game, especially if the rumors of diverting European supplies is true, but ps4 will beat xbone in the npd war, and global war.

Sony is not having yield issues you moron,sony is selling more PS4 faster than MS can sell xbox ones,case in point 1 million in 24 hours in US vs 909k in 9 days for MS,UK the same MS sold 150k in 48 hours and sony 250k,that is 2 countries alone if you take those 2 MS has 10 more countries with small markets since UK and US are their biggest market,the PS4 has 30 more countries including the rest of EU which sell more units combined than UK.

Yeah when i go to store they just vanish or retailers refuse to sell them to me,because they want to have hundreds of PS4 on their storage just for fun..

With the rate MS are flooding the NA then I suspect yes. Having Sony out ahead on all fronts has made MS worried sick. Losing on their home turf isn't going to look good for stock holders. They'll saturate NA so that they can catch people who desperately want a PS4 but can't find one due to being so popular and high demand = gold dust, and will feel sorry for themselves that they want a new shiny toy so bad they'll settle for second best.

Sony has bigger fish to fry like Japan and other country releases. MS desperately need NA as pretty much everywhere else is Sony land already lol.

Sony is trying to dominate the world while Microsoft is desperately trying to keep pace in ONE country. The US is a huge market, but Sony isn't putting all its eggs in one basket. I still think PS4 wins the US regardless of what happens in this month. I guess NPD will lemmings only battle cry because we already know Sony is going win worldwide...Microsoft has already conceded it.

I doubt it will this time. Last time MS benefited by being less expensive. Not so this gen.

X1 will eat dust in the long run . Quality and Quantity of exclusives once again. 5-6 more painful years to come for M$. Its Sony time and well deserved imho after the AMAZING support they offer to their PS3 customers as we speak , considering the huge loses Sony had thru the years.

They deserve every single $ they can get and yes , if i decide to buy a console i know which will last way longer than competition , which one will have the best value , more and better exclusives ... in short best value ... PS4 that is. As it was the same case with every single console before that.

If you're a sony fan, you already have one. Fact. Getting out of your moms basement once a week and talking to random fat, goatee wearing white guy manager at gamestop isn't a good indication of supply and demand. Harcore fans already have them. Get out of the Xmas season and we will see a real indication of supply and demand when scalpers and the rich white suburban soccer mom buying one for her kids demographic stops buying them.

Only reason the Xbone isn't getting completely embarrassed is Sony can't keep up with the demand. You can't find a PS4 in Canada if your life depended on it, and every single retailer says only to expect them in mid January.

They don't even let you do those pay x amount and preorder one things because they are so backed up from unfulfilled launch pre orders.

Doubt it, not like it matters because they're both selling extremely well as is. I've seen a lot of Xbox Ones in the wild lately but usually they end up getting sold while I'm still in the store. With that in mind I think Sony's big problem going into next year is supply issues, if Sony can't keep up demand (Like Microsoft appears to be doing well) then people may just go buy an Xbox One instead.

I just posted some pictures on my profile. If the last week is any indication, the xbox one will have a difficult time catching it. I'm a manager at Best Buy, and last Sunday we had ps4s and xbox ones. I got to work at 4:40 am (we don't open until 10) and there where people who had been out there all night. I had 24 ps4 tickets and 20 xbox one tickets. The first thirteen I gave out were ps4s. I only gave out 14 total xbox one tickets that day and turned away probably 20-30 people wanted the ps4. We ended up selling the xbox ones through out the day though. Throughout the week we had 7 total returns of unopened xbox ones (including two day one consoles). Today we opened with 50 Xbox ones to sell. When I closed the store at 10pm, we still had 31 left. I sold 3 to one guy late in the afternoon. Haha.. On what grounds? It's no different than calling gamestop and them telling you they do or don't have any in stock. It's not like I'm giving away any trade secrets or anything. Hell I can tell you that all Best Buys will have PS4s in stock this Sunday the 22nd. It's public knowledge.... I've been in retail for years and in management for years. What I've said is nothing wrong. Not like I'm breaking down store sales and goals, etc...
