Will there ever be a better game than Gears this gen?

Mass Effect, Metal Gear Solid 4. Spore. Crysis...

Gears of War is a lot of fun, but it feels like I'm inside levels the size of a cardboard box when compared to STALKER.

Yeah, Metal Gear Solid 3 was just another rehash too. The camouflage and performing emergency medical treatments to yourself didn't add to the gameplay at all. 

I would hope so.

You would have to define "Better".  If you only go by GS review scores then probably not.  This was one of the first games that was truely "Next Gen" (I hate that term) and it was scored really high.  With GS's review system they didn't leave much room for a game to score any higher.  In essence they dictated that no game would be better this gen.  I guess that THPS3 was the best the PS2 could do according to the review system here.

My prediction is that there will be games that are much better than Gears but do not score as high ala THPS3.

Pff it wouldn't be hard. In fact Oblivion was better. (IMO)

I think there are a lot of games with the potential to be better than Gears, I can't wait.. until this gen really kicks off and starts pumping out great games.Franklinstein

Have to agree with that statement. Gears is a very good game, with great graphics, but could have been much better in my opinion, not to mention...LONGER. But people act as if it is the Holy Grail or something, and I find that ridiculous, personally. To each their own though, of course, lol. 

As far as any game beating it graphically this gen....:lol:. Of course, there will be quite a few. If you honestly think that Gears of War is going to have the most superior/advanced graphics of any console game this entire generation, you are about as blind and biased of a fanboy as it gets. I am sorry, but it's true, nonetheless, lol.

This generation is just barely even getting started, and we have not seen even half of the potential of what can be done before it's over. Believe me, when games like Lair, Heavenly Sword, Mass Effect, Killzone 2, Bioshock, Assassin's Creed, Elveon, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, MGS4, and FFXIII come out, Gears of War will look standard in comparison. And that is just a few examples, lol.

God only knows what kind or how many other future killer games that will be dropping from 2008 and onwards thereafter on both the PS3 and the 360 that will completely smoke Gears in every way. One can only imagine.

if ur talking about gs ratings, there is a chance but do not have your hopes up. if your talking about other sites, there are a couple already. imo pdz was better than gears and thats sad.fudg__er

and it is really easy too. on my first day playing it at my frends house, i beat RAAM with no help on hardcore, and me and my frend beat RAAM on coop in insane. and its only 10 hours. its so easy.

Graphically, probably not.  Atleast not consolewise.  Crysis will probably own it, though.Heith
