That sort of depends on how "good" someone found OoT.

I went back and tried it on the Wii, and I was shocked at how poorly that game has aged. The targeting system was innovative, but there are far better games of this ilk out right now... unless you are a Miyamoto-fanatic or something, I think you will find plenty of games better than Ocarina. Try Darksiders. It may not be better, but it's sure to be right up your alley. And hey... the characters all have voices!

There already have been games better than OoT. Wind Waker for example. The fact that OoT has gotten a 10 from GS and prefect scores from other websites doesn't mean that it can't be surpassed.

As long as the Wii is out, NO.

I don't understand how that works. Is the Wii preventing good games from being made? I didn't think this thread was just about Zelda games. In any case, the next Zelda iteration could be far beyond OoT in every way.

If you look at it without nostalgia and/or fanboyism you will see that the only reason OoT was so big was because:

1. It was the next game in the famous and exclusive Zelda franchise from Nintendo.

2. It basically was one of the first games in consoles to introduce proper 3-D, especially in Action Adventure games.

So basically the good old hype. If you realize this you know there have been many games since then that have been as good if not better.

There are better games in my opinion in fact Super Mario 64 had a bigger impact on me than Ocarina of Time but I still perfer Galaxy over that game.

Honestly, it's not nostalgia I'm talking about here. I'm talking more so about the experience I had when I was actually playing through the game.

That right there is the basis of nostalgia. You remember the game fondly because you had a great experience with it many years ago. Games only improve over time. I played some THPS 2 yesterday because I wanted to see what the game was like in comparison to Skate/Skate 2; and despite it still being fun and a good game, it couldn't touch Skate/Skate 2 with a 100 ft pole. Technology has come a long way since the late 1990's, and Ocarina of Time is no exception. Games have become much bigger, deeper and much more complex in their design and immersive in their worlds.

Ocarina of Time is a fantastic game, but saying its the best game ever made is completely unfounded. It might be your most favourite game ever, but it is very far from being the "best" ever.

Well its pretty much up to the gamer if they find OoT a great game or not, chances are if they dislike the game to start with then obviously they will find better games than Oot. If they like it to a high level of degree then chances are they will probably not find one. People in the middle will have a wide variety of opinions of course.

There have been better games. Ocarina of Time was great and giving it a 10/10 is understandable, even though I wouldn't. But I had more fun playing games like Tony Hawk's Underground, Sonic Adventure and Tales of Symphonia.

There have been tons of games as good as OoT, because that game was terrible.monkeytoes61
the TRUTH! the nostalgia rose-tinted glasses kill real perspective.

I still have my OoT cartridge and N64 hooked up. I play the game occassionally to see how it's aged. The framerate is piss-poor, the animations are clunky, and the puzzles are formulaic. Fact is, OoT doesn't hold up well against the best games in the current gen.

I'm not denying that OoT was influential (almost every 3d action/adventure game has some element originally from Ocarina). I'm just saying it doesn't hold up well against the elite games of today.

Bayonetta, just amazing from start to finish (the 360 version anyway) and i guess Halo:CE was more enjoyable. OoT isn't even my favorate Zelda game.
