At the moment, Sony and Nintendo both have successful handheld consoles in the market. Unfortunatley, even after numerous rumours, Microsoft still haven't announced any details on a handheld console. What do you guys think? Do you think we will see a handheld games console from Microsoft this generation?

Hmmm I have a PSP and dislike the DS.

I probably wouldnt get an Xbox portable, still waiting for the PSP2 after all.

Handhelds are fun but lately Ive been loosing interest. They need to add a second nub to make a portable Killzone and Demons Souls possible. That would make my day.

Only when Nintendo stops being a tyrant in that market.

No. They are smart enough to realize that Nintendo is, and always has been, the king of the handheld market. They would be destroyed.

No, I honestly don't think theres enough room in the handheld market for 2 systems, let alone 3. I think the future of handheld games is on our smartphones(iPhone, Droid, Pre). Not media players like a psp. People don't want to carry tons of devices around. It's not convienient. And its really easy to just buy a $10 game on your iPhone than it is to go drive to a store and pick up a DS game. So pretty much no, I dont think MS will ever decide to release a handheld. Unless they get smart and make a Zune phone or a decent version of their moblie OS. Tho I do think Nintendo can survive in the handheld market without realeseing some kind of phone.

It's survived a little over five years in the market alone against Nintendo, and has sold 56+ million units. I'd say that's pretty successful.

selling 50 million psps is a success especially since no other company besides nintendo has been able to do it. Unless ur defining success as having sold more than Nintendo, than psp has been a success in the hand held market. And im pretty sure its profitable unlike the ps3 was

I never said that the PSP wasn't successful, I know it is, I'm not gonna argue that, but they aren't beating Nintendo anytime soon.

Who knows after seeing nintendo still dominating after months and months of updating models in portable markets, there's no reason for microsoft to give it a shot. But if they do, then so be it.

no we wont, and i thank god for that, the zune hd is not a game player it is a media device like movies and music and it shouldn't try to tackle being a gameplayer small games fine but it should stick to making its movie playback and music playback superior to the ipod forget the apps and such.

I Agree with you on that. I own a zune and it's a great device, too bad the battery isnt very satifying though.

Yeah, it's not a failure, but I wouldn't call it a sucess.

Also, I hope Microsoft never makes a handheld gaming device...
