PS3 owners would just get slaughter though in any team based game that involves communication adn they will definately get destroyed in all FPS. Even though I hate the PS3 d-pad people say it is best for fighting games so 360 owners would lose in fighting games.
Everything else though should be dead even.

As if in a public game anyone says anything useful.
In a public game, having a mic doesn't matter because everyone acts individually anyway.
In an arranged team match, I doubt an organized team will skimp out on mics.
Who are you trying to kid?
In some public games, not all. In my experience playing online games, the majority of the games I play, when I'm not with my friends, I communicate and strategize with my teammates. Hell, even something as trivial as "I've got two coming on the left side" or "They got me at Rocket spawn" is helpful and the type of things I hear on a consistent basis.
Quite honestly, those who have anything relevant and helpful to say are in the minority, and I'd rather not have to mute ninety-nine out of one-hundred people just so I can hear that one person who wants to contribute.
I know what I'm getting myself into when I go into a public game, and if I want to communicate and have real teamwork, that's what I have a contact list for.
Going into a public game and expecting cooperation leads only to frustration.
Like I said, maybe one person in a game will have something useful to say now and again, but I'd rather fend for myself than either have to listen to the complaining or small talk of everyone else.
