Agreed. The Wii will do great since there has been more and more support for it this gen than last gen.

if wii gets good wii only games and alot of ports then it will do fine . but even if software sales are a bit low sometimes i am sure VC could carry wii sales for a while. alot of people who buy wii are young parents who want there kids to play the games they did growing up.

In sales, yes, I think it will be the top selling console this gen.  Game wise?  I think it'll be very good, certainly better than N64 or GC, but I still think Xbox360 and PS3 have better game lineups than the Wii.

I think it will do a lot better in gaming sales. It may either grow or stay how it is within console sales

It will do well.

Lots of people say that it won't, saying that "Teh Gamecube suked, so the Wii will suk!!"

The Gamecube didn't suck. It was just number 3 in line.

Case in point, the Dreamcast put Sega out of business. The Gamecube did NOT put Nintendo out of business.

Werent there only 3 consoles really competing last gen.....?Personally,I know the Wii will do better than the GC,but I dont see it outlasting Sony's masterpiece. Nintendo wont go out of business anytime soon, their games and handhelds have always sold well.

The Wii will be the market leader for most of this gen, but I do think it'll lose steam near the end. The PS3 on the other hand will pick-up steam as Blu-Ray becomes more and more popular. There is no way that I see the 360 being the market leader, it's practically invisible in japan, and is only doing ok in Europe, however it is doing great in the US. The 360 in my opinion, is guaranteed of not failing but also not winning. It'll be like the N64 during that PS1-N64-Saturn generation. I can't see the Wii failing, it'll definitely surpass the GameCube and in my mind is guaranteed to have at least 30 million units sold, how much more then that remains to see how much longer the public continues to embrace it, at least in the US and Europe, the Wii has Japan wrapped up in my opinion. The PS3 is doing subpar in all 3 regions but it does have a presence in each region, and it also has the best hard-ware, Blu-Ray is winning and this is going to cause big-time sales for the PS3 late in this gen. I think the Wii will gain the lead during the christmas season of 07, and will maintain that lead into 2010 where I think the PS3 might pass it. That will be around the same time that the next Nintendo and Xbox consoles will be getting ready to launch. Microsoft and Nintendo will have a simultaneous launch one year before the next Playstation imo. I have a feeling Apple is going to get into the mix as well.

It will dominate sales and have a substantial lead (though not of PS2 proportions) by time the next gen rolls around.

I think that the 360 will come out on top, then the wii, then the ps3.   idk, but the wii seems like a toy to me, unless they come out with some really good games.  o well, only time will tell.

I think wii may do better saleswise, but 360 and ps3 IMO have much better games coming out. Nintendo mostly makes little minigames and make only a few games such as Zelda and Metroid Prime to satisfy more hardcore/older gamers. Actually i kinda think the wii fad will die out in a little while because it doesn't have very many good games. Whatever it is im content with my Xbox360.

The dreamcast put Sega out of buisness because the dreamcast's predecessor was a big-ass failure (Saturn).  What with that horrible press, it's no wonder that nobody wanted the dreamcast.  I still cherish mine, though, as MDK2, Crazy Taxi and Sonic Adventure 2 will never die.  NEVER!
However, the point is that DC killed sega because the Saturn was a terrible seller.  Now, look at the GC.  It was a terrible seller.  If the Wii flops as well...  Nintendo might be screwed.

If the Wii holds onto Japan for the entire generation, but somehow magically pulls a gamecube in the other two major markets (though it would have to do even worse than the GC did to fall back to its numbers), it will still sell around 35 million.

I think the Wii will stay kinda dominant against PS3 in Japan and definately more dominant than 360. Its US and Europe were the 360 is dominating.

So what? People don't seem to understand that the biggest gaming market is North America, second is Europe and then there's a HUGE gap, and then there's Japan.  So if 360 does great in North america(360 will dominate NA no matter what) and Europe it might win.

Learn to use capital letters.  Also, learn how to spell "speak."  Learn when to keep your mouth shut and not correct someone.

Also, your "fear" is not well-founded.  The GC sold a mere 20 million, and it still made Nintendo billions of dollars.  The Wii has already sold over 6 million units, and it shows absolutely no signs of slowing.  Even if it only ended up selling 10 million units, though, it wouldn't vanish.  Nintendo isn't going to stop supporting it, and it has over $10 billion to back it up.

The DC sold 10 million in a year, which is better than the X360 did.  Honestly, I don't understand how the DC failed.  Sega had a good thing going with it, but I guess some bad business decisions turned what could have a been a much-needed success into a failure.  I think the GameGear and Saturn dug too deep of a hole to climb out.
