Curious to know as all the Microsoft games are releasing on PC .IMO... most gamers got a decent PC and knowing advantages of playing on a PC will prefer to play games like Halo infinite on Steam.

Not out of the gate they might eventually overtake xbox one but the showing didn't get anyone new interested in the platform.

Obviously PC is better, but there are still some people that primarily game on console. So, XSX is appealing for the best console versions of multiplats, the MS exclusives, and Game Pass. I think it will do fine. If you are a console only gamer, there is enough incentive to make it worthwhile. For any PC Gamer that doesn't have a potato PC, it is pretty useless. This is a good thing of course. MS allows people to play the way they want.

The Xbox is pointless to me having a gaming PC since playing on the console would be downgrading the experience.

The overlap between PC and console gamers is greatly overexaggerated on hobby enthusiast sites. Putting their games on PC isn't what's hurting Xbox sales. Microsoft lacks those big budget head turners that Sony's studios have mastered.

It will sell well in the states, they love supporting MS for whatever reason, regardless if the product is shit or not.

It's hard to say for sure. Maybe they will sell less Xbox hardware just by purely having gamepass for pc as an option. Most users here who have decent PC's seem like they won't bother with the hardware.

They need to bundle in 3 months of gamepass in every box.

That's only worth $15 on PC.

According to folks on this board, the Xbox Series X doesn’t need to sell well to be successful. It also doesn’t need high rated games. It just needs to offer “value”. I thought offering software to the highest install base was gonna be a bullet point too, but Microsoft pulled the plug on that one because the Xbox One from 2013 was holding games back. Which is funny because we were also told that wasn’t the case originally. Just like how buying timed exclusives “didn’t feel like growth” and wasn’t a practice Phil liked. Phil said they’re “bad for the consumer.” The quotes go back to when Phil took over, yet timed exclusives made up a big chunk of the showcase and that’s OK because Lems are on this board claiming timed exclusives are gonna help sell Game Pass subscriptions. So Phil is being “anti consumer” to be “pro consumer.” We don’t care that Phil is full of it because of the “value.”

You know what would help keep all this flip flopping and contradiction straight? A good RonBot chart. Where is Ron?

@MonsieurX: System Wars still doesn’t handle the existence of PC well. Understanding tech beyond buzzword marketing, being able to build your own system, having more than $400-$500 dollars to spend on a hobby and not relying on devs to determine which graphical settings are best are all foreign subjects on this board. It’s been that way forever.

But I like to play while sitting on my couch!!1! I wanna game on muh TV1!!

I think that's already largely true this generation. So - to the extent that you can attribute this gen's sales to that, the best info we might have is "similar to this generation sales". That being said, I think there's more at play

A console so powerful, with such new technology, is going to be very expensive to produce. Depending on how much they decide to sell the console for and how much they’re recuperating with paid online and the console tax, MS might be taking a significant hit with each unit sold. In which case they’re probably overjoyed to have a secondary digital-only platform with their operating system to sell their games on.

This!

Xbots can talk up GamePass all they want, but without exclusive big hitters the service isn't going to attract a large audience, there's a reason Netflix makes their own content

To be fair to MS they did a very good job of selling gamepass not necessarily a series X but I think gamepass is where they see the future of MS. Whether of not it pays off time will tell.
