The Wii U is a next gen system, and this is a fact.

And seriously, if you have any hesitation about buying a Wii U at $100, you probably shouldn't be playing video games in the first place.

Will you Buy a Wii U instead of a Next Gen System if they did what they did with the 3DS and drop the price around $100 bright before the PS 4 and next Box launch?

I already bought a Wii U at launch (two actually) and I already told SW last year when I bought the two Wii Us that a price drop is coming this year either at E3 or right when the PS4/720 release.

I already got one for Christmas so a little late for that.

At this point I think I will be getting the PS4 over the Nextbox as well, assuming rumors are true.

I already have one but I could easily see myself being satisfied with the PS4, but of course I buy everything anyways.

That's younger to me, but the point was what I said in red. Paying attention to gaming news, but yeah, system code names is a part of that. As far as PS4 referring to Nextbox, that's not the case. The 360 was Nextbox and Xbox 2 prior to actually getting the name Xbox 360 in May 2005. PS4 was called PS4 and Orbis.

See that smiley up there ---> :P After I very politely corrected you, I made light of the situation and mentioned you owned a 360. I was being nice and I kept the post lighthearted. I still won't mock you, I'm just explaining this for your, and many other younger System Warriors, benefit. Some aren't younger, they just don't care about news. For the most part, I'm sure people that want to know will read this and others will scroll on.

The 360 successor, or Xbox 720 has also taken the name of Durango as of late, but for much longer it was the 720. It's the third Xbox and it's name will be finalized about a month from now. Just keep that in mind when you have 20ish years of gaming life under your belt and the next wave of PS5, Xbox 4, and Nintendo something is releasing and you find yourself on forums. You will find younger gamers using old codenames for new machines, and maybe, you might post something. If not, someone else will.

Sidenote, Dolphin became the Gamecube and the Revolution became the Wii, and in the past in other threads I broke down gobs of other machines but I'll refrain from that now.

Some SW use the term next gen, the way EPIC studios and other developers use the term, to describe graphical capabilities, AI, Textures, etc. They are talking about the Wii U hardware. This is one rough spot on the Wii U. That's what they are talking about.

They aren't talking about the former, but the latter. The capabilities of the Wii U and how future proof it is for the coming console war storm.

Everyone knows that aren't trolling, the Wii U is technically a next generation machine. It's part of the 8th Console generation...timeline wise.

It's the power and hardware that many users don't feel are "next gen", much like the the 7th generation Wii, the Wii U's hardware seems to be lacking based on what developers, publishers have released so far and what those devs have spoken about. It's also what gamers can see from owning a Wii U, reading the latest Wii U releases and news, or watching Wii U videos. An example I would point to is the Wii. The Wii's architecture was more in line with the 6th generation than the 7th gen, but "technically" the Wii was still a 7th gen console.

So, the real issue is this :

Will the Wii U become a Wii this generation in terms of 3rd party MULTIPLATFORM support?

Based on the hardware Nintendo released for the Wii U and the current talk from publishers and developers, that may be the case.

I wasn't confused when I bought my Wii Us. I knew going it it was going to go down in price within a year and I knew going in I was only going to buy high quality exclusives. Basically, my Wii U will be treated as I treated my N64, Gamecube and my Wii. My Wii Us are for exclusives. This generation, the high quality exclusives I want will be designed around the the Nintendo gimmick/premise of the Wii U tablet.

I'm playing the well-rounded gamer approach. The one with integrity where I don't turn away any gaming experience. So I'll be owning all THREE next gen systems.

I already own a Wii U, the first of the three next gen systems, and will happily purchase an Xbox and a PS4 as well.

And also to your point, I will say that I am more than happy with $350 I paid for my launch day Wii U. A heck of a deal for a good system.

Personally I don't agree with Microsoft's decision to have an always-online system, and shutting out a large portion of potential customers who don't have a reliable internet.

Then you have those that just don't like a system's franchises for whatever reason. You really can't blame them for not supporting something they have no interest in.

Depends on what they do with Zelda this time.

I dont want to play half the game as a wolf or any other animal, and I dont want it to be a linear game with a "void of anything" hub world.

A OoT style Zelda is wanted. I don't want to play with the numchuck either. I want the option to play with the classic pro controller.

NO WAY!!!!!!!! I wouldn't take the Wii U free, because no one in my house would play it. Nore would I buy games for it. I wouldn't take a turd box free either for the same reasons.

Already own one and am very happily playing MH3U on it. Would love to play some Wii games I missed out on but Xenoblade is very hard to find, same with The Last Story.
