It's becoming increasingly common practice for "hot" games the publishers know will sell well to increase the price. Grand Theft Auto 5, Battlefield 4, Call Of Duty 72. All Blizzard games. Now I understand it's a bussiness strategy but how feels you? If Battlefield or Call Of Duty is 25%- 40% more than the price of a stanard pc game will you just buy the thing anyway regardless? Personally, since EA jumped off steam and started selling shit on origin for almost double the price, I haven't touched a EA game in ages.

Is it bad to overcharge  young children 12-14 year old boys because you can? Thanks to a huge PR machine and gaming media giving qeastionable buzz?

Not if it's hot. Would I pay extra to play like, at maximum, one or two games in particular series early? Yeah, probably.

if it's one of those games that will stay at $60 for a year and I'want it cheap I can wait, sales at Fry's, Best Buy, Walmart, Target, GameStop, Amazon, etc, there's always specials, maybe a window will open to get it for $50, $40, $30, for a limited time, then it goes back up, just have to pick the right time and right place follow sites like cheapassgamer for those deals

Supply and demand.  $60 is an arbitrary.  To me, most aren't worth full price, but some I'd pay $100+ for.

I thought you meant hot as in stolen and getting it early.

No? I'll pay extra for a game if I feel it is worth it, or if I really want it badly.

i thought u meant that it was stolen!!!! i hate how "hot" games retain their price for so long. try buying a Nintendo first part Wii game like Mario or donkey kong, they are still almost full price.....

I paid $80 for Hey You Pikachu... Anyways, what's "pay extra" -- 60 dollars? I thought that was the standard these days?

I won't pay a dime for another call of duty game.  A bad business model encouraging repeated production of a game naturally equates to a game that is very repetitive.

Nah, I actually play most games after they get "cold" and I can purchase them from the discount bin. Only a very few games are must have day one for me (like Starcraft 2 and its expansions, Metal Gear Solid 5 and Dark Souls 2).

Origin actually does some good sales nowadays. And to answer your question, no. But if I enjoyed the game enough, I'm willing to pay some overpriced DLCs (while criticizing them heavily for it)

Same here, the only game i pre-ordered for the ps3 i still play it every week (bought it 3 years ago)

To answer the OP question, like someone else said it's a case of supply and demand. I know it might look bad considering other devs may follow but really only a few select game companies can pull this off and the fact that they do so is to capitalize on people's hype since the game drops in price not much after.
