[QUOTE="simulation"][QUOTE="hobbit93"][QUOTE="mattbbpl"] This 10 year lifecycle phrase is taken out of context.
It doesn't mean it will compete for two generations:
Next generation, Sony will release a PS4 to compete with the new MS and Nintendo machines. The PS3 will simply continue to be sold and receive a few games every now and again just like the PS2 does now.

are you mad?? sony doesnt have the funds to produce a PS4 lol look at krazy ken... PS6 ... microsoft on the other hand alredy has a third generation xbox in development... tretton just seems lost in space to me and will do nothing to help sonyso your saying that microsoft is already making a new xbox, while the last has been out for less than two years, and they havent turned a profit on it, yet they're putting another out, hoping to make a profit on that?
Of course they're making the next X-BOX. Development of new consoles usually begins near the release of the previous one.
There's a lot of work to release a console. You need to decide on an architecture, manufacture dev kits, provide enough time between the Dev Kit creation and launch for launch games to be developed, talk to third parties to negotiate deals, set up factories to mass produce the final product, and then build up an inventory of systems for launch.
It all involves a great deal of effort and time.
ok, but doesnt it seem a bit soon? I guess its good if they get released early jsut like witth the 360, which it seems they are abandoning for the new system.
