Just as GFWL is a huge competition to Steam already :lol:MonsieurXGWFL is being integrated into Windows 8 from the start and is being reworked, may not be competition now, but in the future who knows? Loving everything about Windows 8 so far, theyve needed to do all of it for quite some time
Xbox and Windows 8 will be nearly identical, I would even go as far as saying the next xbox will be a version of windows 8.... if they were smart about it. The tablet vresion of winodws 8 IS the PC version, the touch interface is just an overlay that can be turned off, underneath it is the normal windows desktop and taskbar. There is no Tablet iOS like what mac has done, they are both equal, which is an important step foward imo.wait the new xbox dashboard has an app. marketplace.could we be seeing the same thing for pc?also is there a video of windows 8 for desktops, all i've seen is the version for tablets

If Valve was smart, they would start designing a Steam based tile for Windows 8 so it would fit nicely in the whole theme.
I feel like I'm the only gamer who sees the potential in the new tile-based desktops.

Yea, but windows store would be more seemless for the user, thru MS didnt said anything of publishing rules, i think this is key thing to attract publishers to actully place there products there, if it's gonna be similar to Apple's App Store it might be more attractive for them (thru i dont know Steam publishing rules :p)

What are you thoughts on it? I mean as far what do you think it could be used for?

yeah they have to do that with every other release, so you will be sure to buy the "improved" OS next time. Windows 8 will be the NT, 2000, Vista type dud, and Windows 9 (or whatever they call it) will be the 98, XP, 7 type savior. lolWindows 8 will be a flop, 7 in the new XP

Whats the purpose when you dont have a touch screen, Windows 7 with say Rocketdock works fineIf Valve was smart, they would start designing a Steam based tile for Windows 8 so it would fit nicely in the whole theme.

I thinking people are confusing the windows 8 tablet OS to the windows 8 PC OS

Your logic is sound and reasonable as you've clearly shown an infalliable pattern.... except for missing out on Windows ME, Windows XP MCE, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Windows Home Server 2011, and Windows XP 64 (which runs on Windows Server 2003).

each will look different, Windows PC won't look like a windows phone. but it should still have the same basic look as it always had

Win7 vs Win 8 tablet support and build in touch screen with titles . The promo Ive seen you can switch to Win 7 type interface. so whats the real purpose of windows 8 over 7 again? Granted its still in its early stages but so far the main thing to windows 8 is that they are focusing on touch screen interface, and until you can get touch screen monitors cheap its almost pointless.I'm glad they don't seem to be half-assing this. If you go tile, do it fully ad do it well. I'd still personally prefer the old school windows look, and I would never use half of the tiles they want to be default, but Windows 8 is growing on me. If they make this less resource intensive compared to Windows 7, I'll give Windows 8 a try.

Umm no, you have both across everyting. PC will have the phone look, as will tablets have the normal desktop. theyre both one and the same.[QUOTE="gamer-adam1"][QUOTE="04dcarraher"] Whats the use when you dont have a touch screen and or have Rocketdock04dcarraher

Ehh... Windows 8 will flop for the fact that people are still migrating over to Windows 7, they aren't gonna hop over again unless they need to. Microsoft doesn't seem to grasp that most people, especially businesses don't exactly enjoy migrating operating systems every few years.
PC gamers for the most part aren't gonna migrate either unless there's some kind of shift within PC gaming that requires it.
