Wired's Console Teardown Comparison

Here is the PS4. Looking a little naked and seems to justify the $400.00

Here is the X1(second pic). Chock full of lots of doodads and thingies that just scream sophistication.

Just for comparison..........Super Nintendo (third pic)

The PS3 Slim (forth pic)

xbox 360 (last pic)

As you can see the PS3 slim is scary in similarity to the PS4. More evidence that the PS4 is just a beefed up PS3? The PS3 has become stripped down through the years and now even features a manual tray for the disc drive.

A lot of features of the stripped down PS3 have been carried over to the PS4. Is this a sign that Sony doesn't have the backing to produce a groundbreaking new console or they are playing it safe with a proven design?????

I see what your saying. This could be related to the late hardware changes to the X1 and less developer time to optimize the games. Right now isn't defining the entire generation.

Look at all those off the shelf parts in the PS4.

its funny if you go by the coiltronics, and the wattage of both systems you and go by PC code you would swear the X1 was 2x powerful than the ps4. Yall can make them 720 jokes all you want to, but you will be switching your tune soon.

I've seen the math and rendering a game using deffered shading in 1080p is just not possible, you need 44 MB minimum in the form of esram, and that's without rendering anti-aliasing. Forza 5 doesn't use deffered shading, hence it's in 1080p. 900p is going to be the XB1 standard, 720p for multiplats and 1080p for smaller games.

Both look like extremely weak laptops.

It does have 5 million transistors. I doubt they'd want to repeat rrod, but then again they're not a hardware company.

My 780Ti has 7 billion and that runs cool.

Yeah, there is no chance the XB1 will overheat with all those vents, the heatsink and that huge fan spread across everything. It has a lot more places to take in and release airflow then the PS4.

Correct. The X1 power supply is double that of the PS4. I think there is a squach hiding in there!

Clyde what is your stance on the Ps4 PSU, pretty much blocking the only vents in the PS4? Da hell is this going to work?

Shouldn't matter as long as it vents heat away from the case. You can cool a hot chip with a efficient fan and heatsink without having to run said fan at high speeds. Granted, its not going to be as good as a 120mm fan but it should be fine at whats its doing.

I build my own PC and play some PC games. I agree though.

Ever notice how no one from Sony has ever mentioned this claim? Just some dev working on a Octodad or Super Arcade Pinball level. Sony wont say this because they know it's not true and have enough backlash coming.

That video has been Pixel counted as 1080p and is a cutscene. I can see why a lem would do so though since its single player gameplay looks worse than killzone multiplayer. And anyway a multiplat is the best compare since are the same game..duh

didn't even click on it. Saw "SonyGAF" . I appreciate your passion for the PS4 though. Maybe if you are ever in the downtown area we can go to a whisky bar and talk about how Killzone is the ultimate shooter.

This launch has been surrounded by bias, paid for sites. You go to all of them is see.

It's easy to see why MS is launching their console at a higher pricepoint. That system board is not going to be easy to scale back. Sony, on the other hand, has a far more intelligent system design. It saves money to use more space on a fab layer than it is to have multiple layers and a more enclosed design space-wise. PSFOUR is going to be freaking tiny!
