Just curious....here is a quote from the new issue of Game Informer

"This is the best looking game I have ever seen. The art is fantastic and varied, and the engine is capable of meticulous detail, stunning vistas, and amazing cinematic scenes"

agree or disagree?

I am on the fence about this game since I am not a huge RPG fan but I must admit I am intrigued

It is a very good looking game (or rather, like all PC games, it can be a good looking game)

On the settings I run it at, it looks purty.

This game looks fantastic. I'm running it at a measly 720p on my TV (as to keep 60FPS fairly constantly) and it looks damn beautiful in places. I think it easily beats vanilla Crysis, and gives modded Crysis a good run.

It looks very nice, but has its shortfalls, such as the shadows from the sun being extremely grainy.

It looks the best to me. People can argue about how technical it is but, just off of looks I can't think of a game that is better.

chikenfriedrice

I thought Crysis vanilla was dethroned by Metro 2033, but not modded Crysis. Some will disagree though.

TW2 I'd say is equal with Crysis, but if I had to choose it'd be TW2.

Have you played the first? If not there are some good save files out there, but i'd recommend playing the first through (with mods).

Yeah looks real good. Think of a much larger and expansive Uncharted 2. Playing in 1080p is crazy.

It has mad glitches though. Perhaps they should call it The Glitcher 2. lol :)

Not for me personally... I wouldn't buy the most beautiful game ever made if it was a sport game. (I don't like sports games.) Graphcis aren't a huge deciding factor for me. For instance, I'm a HUGE Zelda fan. But I'm not getting 3DS verzion of OoT because I already have the game in the Master Quest version... I'm fine with playing with old graphics.

Sorry but I feel like the most of you are blind. The Witcher 2 is obviously not as good looking as vanilla Crysis. Just look at the textures on Geralt. Or anything really. There are lots of good ones, but TW2 simply isn't amazing looking. I'd put in my top 5 graphically, but it doesn't really exceed Crysis or any other recently made games.

...Yeah... I'm not a "games are an experience" kind of guy. The only games I can really call "experiences" are silent Hill shattered Memories, Okami, and Majora's Mask. Other games come close but those are really the only ones I've ever truly felt were experiences. Agree to disagree I guess.

are we looking at this from a technical perspective or a artistic perspective, because artistically i still think wind waker is #1, and there are other games this gen that are great artistically.... like the uncharted series, then there is technical best which we all know crysis has more dynamic goodness in one of those sexy plants then the entirety of every game this gen combined.

Probably the best looking game I've played in awhile ,but I think if it is "the graphics king" it will have short reign considering the games being released this year.

Really? Ith thought the atmosphere was great, as well as sound. Plus the story and way it was told through the game (not to mention the loads of symbolism and psychology worked into it) was absolutley brilliant. (In shattered Memories)

FCR (Full Combat Rebalance) is a good way to go, as well as the Texturen mod.

so FCR increases the difficulty or is it a choice? And thanks!

SH:SM and Cryostasis were 2 of the most underrated games of 2009, moreso Shattered Memories. That game was f'ing brilliant. Its one of the games every Wii owner should have IMO. Not to mention its quite a looker for a Wii game.

I don't like how the atmosphere and pacing was completely broken compared to other silent hill games, your in the "normal" world there really wasn't much going on, and when your in the "evil" world there was little to no tension, just flat out sprint away from what appeared to be naked midgets. I liked those aspects of it with the psychiatrist but it didn't feel all that important when the game fails to deliver in the gameplay segments. if i had to list the silent hill games in order of ones i liked it would be: 2, 1, origins, 3, 4, homecoming, shattered memories

I don't know if it's must own. the game is brilliant, I agree, but I can see how some people may not like it. However, the story and symbolism will always stay with me; I'm going to try to write stuff as deep as it someday. Right now my stories tend to be weird and disturbing horror. But yeah I feel Shattered Memories was underrrated.

I don't think there is nearly as much symbolism that you wrote about in that little article, I think its mostly truths based on player actions, Dahlia IS james's wife, and the relationship that harry had with his family is defined by the player's choice, the game is made from the memories of Cheryl, thus "shattered memories" its not symbolism when its almost a straight truth. Cheryl's perception of james is player driven. The nightmares could have been symbolic to some extent though, I think silent hill 2's symbolism was much much deeper and stronger.

Some that come to my mind... Shogun 2 Total War Dirt 3 Dirt 2 (not as recent, but still amazing looking) Crysis 2 Portal 2 There are probably more, but I think these games look at least as good as The Witcher 2 if not better.

I say Witcher 2 and Crysis are on par in some places.

The facial textures in Crysis look better then The Witcher 2's.

The rocks in the Witcher 2 look better then the ones in Crysis.

The lighting in Crysis looks more noticeable.

The Witcher 2 looks better artistically.

Or you know we can look at a game from both the technical and artistic perspective. One of those rare cases where when both are great deliver a beatiful looking game.

One other thing I love about TW2 engine are the inexistent loading screens even with all the details and high res textures.

Well from a purely technical standpoint Shogun 2 is the graphics king by far and i would say Witcher 2 exceeds vanilla Crysis technically as well as artistically! I think Crysis's graphics are incredibly overrated, yea its a fantastic looking game but in some elements its really starting to look dated espically in the vanilla version. Yes the foliage looks good and so does the character models and lighting but everything else? Nothing exceptional! Witcher 2s textures absolutely blow Crysis's out of the water!

No, Crysis is still ahead of it. The Witcher 2 looks nice, but has a lot of jank to it.

It's a good looking game. It has excellent art direction. However the title of graphics king is a purely technical title, not an art direction title, and Crysis 1 with mods still holds that title. The only worthy contender is the upcoming Battlefield 3.

I would say yes, I love how it looks, and it makes my jaw drop every time I get to a new place.

It's a toss up between Crysis/Warhead and Witcher 2 for me.

Its a fantastic looking game. But it is different to most games. It doesn't try to look ultra realistic like crysis because TW2 is a fantasy game set in a fantasy world. It looks realistic in some areas but it also tries to look different and have its own identity. Which i think looks great. The textures and lighting are some of the best out there

Sorry but I feel like the most of you are blind. The Witcher 2 is obviously not as good looking as vanilla Crysis. Just look at the textures on Geralt. Or anything really. There are lots of good ones, but TW2 simply isn't amazing looking. I'd put in my top 5 graphically, but it doesn't really exceed Crysis or any other recently made games.Mcspanky37
Agreed... Crysis has much more detailed characters for starters.
