With all the games coming out, Starcraft II has to be the most anticipated one.

You can play Starcraft 2 now... personally I dont give a damn about this overhyped old-game-refined beyond interest game.

I'm way more excited for Civilization V than Starcraft 2 in terms of strategy games.

Really? If they had only made one Starcraft 2 then I would be expecting it but with three of the same thing I think there are better games in my opinion. But, I think THIS one is the most anticipated in Korea.

I think a day or 2 ago they had a another big starcraft tournament, 10k prize. Starcraft franchise is still running very strong and 2 will probably breath another 13 years of life into it.

I dunno. Ten years is an awful long time to wait for a sequel especially one that:

Has had it's campaign split into three games.

Looks like it plays VERY similar to its predecessor.

I'm excited for it, and will purchase it... but I think those two things have hurt it.

People are going nuts for this game paying up to $300 on ebay for a beta key, kind of depressing.

This is just a PC-flaming thread in disguise, basicly implying that the reason why we're so looking forward to SCII is because we have so few exclusives.

Sigh.

EDIT: I just read the entire post now, it's not in disguise.

You didn't have to wait 10 years between Halo/God of War. No comment on GT5, since it still doesn't have an actual release date that looks feasible. And neither had the campaign of a single games split into thirds. I mean, GoW 1 and 2 are self contained. As are the Halo games. GT doesn't really have a story, so...

I think the desire for that vaporware has died down but go ahead and post some. Unless you consider the same type of non-gameplay shots every other week hype.

How often do you exactly play RTS? Because generally everyone knows the all the fun is had in multiplayer and skirmishes, and that comes in the wings of liberty were you can play as all 3 races. Besides, i wouldn't be surprised if they later on in the other 2 expansions added new units.

There's been such a huge drought for worthwhile pc exclusives it's become ridiculous. SCII has to be very very good to compensate. Whatever happened to pc games that took the industry to a whole new level? It's been fairly disappointing for the pc crowd this gen.

How has it been disappointing? The best multi-plats + more exclusives than all consoles combined.

How has it been disappointing??? The last AAAE for PC came out in 2007 (sims 3 is coming to consoles). Sounds pretty disappointing to me.

StarCraft 2 may very well be the most globally anticipated pc game ever.

Blizzard has never been as famous as it is now because of the mass popularity that WOW bring globally

So lots of people who are not fans of starcraft or have not played StarCraft are looking forward to this title, because it's Blizzard's first major release after WOW.

hmmm ... if it has been disappointing for the system with the most quality exclusives, then I shudder to think what it would like for the other systems

I play RTSes quite often, and believe you me, I know where the fun is to be had. I do, however, know that people who say, aren't interested in the Terran campaign, are planning on waiting for one of the others. So, I think that's a legitimate complaint. Some people aren't going to buy StarCraft singly for the multiplayer.

I hope it sells well with Blizzards massive fame from WoW. But yea, im pretty excited. It seems that the RTS genre isnt as popular as it used to be (11 mil copies or whatever of the original SC sold), but its hugely hyped so it might be able to bring in the big bucks. Yea im super excited, have been off RTS's for a while, ill try and get decent at SC2 (hopefully wont have to face Koreans =( )

But yea, PC exclusives are in quite a draught. Just look at the top games for PCs in sales or reviews... whens the last big exclusive in either? SC2 should sell pretty damn well, and it seems so refined that it'll probably score well aswell (at least better than any recent PC exclusive). I just really hope ppl dont make too much of a big deal in the reviews that not a ton has changed rom SC1. SC1 is one of the best RTS's of all time (I personally slightly prefer WC3, but its close, and its by blizzard anyway xD). I dont see why you'd want super duper major changes. Its a much prettier, much more refined SC, I dont understand why you'd want more than that.
