Curiousity has gotten to me after I read that article about DMC4 requiring a mandatory 5GB installation on the PS3. Well my question is if games can be made to have a mandatory installation on the PS3 doesn't that bascially diminish the need or usage of Blu-Ray?
PC's don't need Blu-Ray because they have HDD's that they can put the game disc information on. PS3's are all equiped with standard HDD's (unlike 360's) and can by all means achieve the same kind of game installation that the PC is capable of.
Now with DMC4 having a "MANDATORY" installation, an installation similar to PC games doesn't that defeat the purpose of the Blu-Ray disc? (for gaming that is)
If need be why not just use the HDD to install games similar to how a PC does? Its not like a lot of games are going to need these kind of installations and what not. Hell DMC4 on 360 doesn't need one (makes me wonder why the PS3 needs one though but I guess someone who knows more about tech could explain that one)
So I guess the big question is, if PS3's can install games similar to how a PC installs games then what's with all the Blu-Ray is needed for gaming ect.
PC's can live without it. PS3 can install like PC's can. Is there something I'm missing here?
