Without a price drop THIS year, should the PS3 accept 3rd place?

This isnt flame bait guys, Im a huge ps3 fan just like im an xbox and Wii fan, its just that I like to be realistic. If the ps3 doesnt get a price cut this year is it destined to be the third place console? Im thinking that a price cut next year, I dont care if its in January, would be too little to late because they need the holiday to be effected by a price cut so the xbox doesnt have one more christmas to pad its lead. What do you guys think?

Sales wise its destined to be third gaurenteed.Without a price drop it will not sell well, $400is just a lot of money to most people for the privellge og gaming especially with cheaper alternatives that can be just as good if not better. Games wise, well, we'll see.

i dont care what place any console is in its not a sports team or some sometype of sporting event where i feel a sense of a pride in its sales numbers. Becasue if it has the most sales but a weak line up of games what does that prove nothing *cough* wii *cough*.

From a gamers perspective I think they should drop the price, just so I have a better chance of getting one:p

From Sony's perspective, I think they need to do something to bolster sales and morale, I am always excited to see what they come out with in each gen, hopefully their slow going this gen doesn't damper later efforts.

I don't think it'll catch up this gen, no matter what Sony does. Not that they shouldn't make it a more interesting buy.

However last place in sales, is far from last place as a games console. For me it's PC>>>360=PS3>Wii.

new gen starts as soon as any console manufactuter releases a new product to the public that has better stats then the previous console. "next gen" Just cause sony isnt winning doesnt mean the rules change.

PS3 probably won't catch the 360 in sales..ever, but hey at least its getting a steady flow of games now. :P

No way I'm spending $400+ on a video game console... I'll buy one once there is a price drop and Gran Turismo 5 is out :) ...and also for Unchartered...

Yes, the PS3 will need a price drop this year if they want to stay in contention so far as sales go.

However, in terms of having the best gaming console this generation, the PS3 has already won that crown as far as I'm concerned.

I already have my PS3 so I don't care either way.
