"Ahead of today's X10 event, two retailers -- Walmart and Best Buy -- have revealed Alan Wake Limited Edition for the Xbox 360.

According to the listings, the $80 set will get you:

-Game Disc in box with unique art

-Exclusive In-Game Audio Commentary and Hints by Remedy

-"The Alan Wake Files" – a 144pg book that includes a short story written by Alan Wake and compiles the FBI dossiers investigating the events in Bright Falls, WA

-Exclusive Audio Disc with Soundtrack and Score

-Game Add-on token redeemable on Xbox LIVE for the first Alan Wake add-on content pack

-Exclusive Xbox disc with special content: Alan Wake Xbox Live Theme and Alan Wake Avatar for Xbox LIVE

The whole package comes in a box designed to resemble a hardcover book, "hardbound in quality linen."

Both retailers also mention the same release date for the game -- May 25, 2009. With X10 kicking off in only a few hours, we're sure to find out how accurate that is soon enough." - Destructoid

*Sigh* the game doesnt even have a release date yet DLC is already confirmed. DLC is probably the worst thing this gen. anyways pretty kewl edition, will get it.

A nice collector's edition to be sure, but I am just interested in the game. Regular edition and $20.00 extra in my pocket for me.

Soundtrack, 144 page book, and first DLC should be worth $20, and you get more.

DLC announced before launch is normal now and it's not changing. Heavy Rain, Dante's Inferno, Alan Wake, and multiple other titles.

What folks do not understand, though, is that most DLC is usually developed by seperate teams. I love post-release support.

The first DLC would be the only real selling point for me, but I really just want to play the game before I decide if I want any DLC for it or not. If I do, I will buy it later. Overall, it is a nice package, though.

Definitely interested in the game, not so much this edition of it, though. I think I'll stick to the normal on this one.

I am starting to really get tired of these "limited" and "collector's" editions. Why not just include all this stuff with every copy? Why must I pay extra for a game that isn't going to appreciate in value over time? I paid $15 extra for MGS3: Subsistence LE (released 2006) and it is now worth around $200-250 USD used on eBay. That is what I want my extra money to go towards, not these "extras" that could have easily been included in the standard version.

Thats fine and all, especially SP as that takes much more effort, but most of the time its been content cut out of the main game that theyve decided to milk us on.

Not just separate teams, but a good chunk of the people who worked on the game don't have anything to do during the final 2-3 months before the game is released (which is when QA, polishing, cert and manufacturing/transportation take place). You could start working on some fairly significant DLC when the game is all-but-finished and be done before the game releases (apparently that's what happened with Dragon Age's Warden's Keep DLC).

What's wrong with Limited Editions of games? You aren't forced into buying it, so it just sounds like you are complaining for complainings sake.

Also, don't call people nerds. It's not relevant or necessary with the confines of the thread.

I don't get your logic. Of course they would know by now whether they are doing DLC or not... -_- It doesn't mean it was cut out from the game for the purpose of DLC, nor does it mean they are working on it now. They have better places to allocate resources. I have not found a single good argument against DLC except for ones against horse armor, etc. in Oblivion.

I'm with you. I can't help but feel that devs complete their game, then selectively remove features so they can sell them later on as DLC. Remember back in the days when you bought a game you were done? Any additional stuff, save for full scale expansions, was free? Remember that? Those were the good days...now you get milked to high heaven. And don't anyone give me this BS about how much time it took to make said DLC, because games like street fighter 4 are selling alternate costumes for characters. How long does it take to edit a freaking mesh? And it's not like SF4 meshes are the most detailed out there. Or how about LBP skins? WTF? Probably took 1 guy 5 hours to make all the skins, yet they charge for them. Companies just love milking nowadays.

Now thats what I call a limited edition.

Can't wait, although still on the fence. Will see if my wallet can take that hit and extra $10 would have been fine by me. Its seems to me like the DLC is the reason for the $20 bucks extra

Meh, quite recent in relation to how long I've been having this sig :P And I bolded 'hold' because I've no reason to remove the signature until they officially can it :P As for "PC version or no buy"; I'm simply subtly threatening Microsoft/Remedy...because they care. They have to! :(
