Ok, a 10/10 from Eurogamer is serious business, and this is before any patches for the expansion even come out. I LOVE BLIZZARD!

That's a good score for an expansion pack.

My Mage is almost 71, I rolled a Death Knight too 67 and I'm loving it, so far WOTLK is amazing, Blizzard truly are above everyone else in the biz, except for maybe Kojima :P

If they will fix all the time it takes to do fun stuff at high levels, i will jump on board again with World of Warcraft 2.

I see a trend here... people who don't like WoW or are too poor to afford playing it, say that "they would rather have a life".

Funny thing is, if you had a life, you wouldn't be posting here on these forums.

As said when winning a pvp match "GG!"

It would be ironic if I claimed to "have a life"

However, seeing as I didn't, it's all good.

Lolz,

Like you have any idea how much money people make.

I've made this point a few tomes on other threads, WoW is a bland, featureless MMO. When I was in school, we played UO, and THAT was an MMO.

Imagine that, we didn't have quests. we didn't have crazy gear, we played an open world of guild vs guild combat, player looting,  ship combat, house thievery and real estate speculation. The variation in game play and the crazy things we did would explode the head of anyone used to a boring grind like WoW.

To say that anything WoW is 10/10 is an insult to MMO's.

He does have a point. When i played WoW things started to consume too much time. It wasn't lack of control (or i doubt i would have been able to give up so easily). At higher levels travel time became more and more of a hindrance. To get to an instance i'd need a party which would usually take me between 30 minutes to an hour, i sometimes had to run 10 minutes, take the boat 5 minutes, some flying here and there, and then there was praying that everyone would make it there, before i had to eat again.
And i mean, the instances usually took hours. Which is great fun and all but if something happened here and i had to go to the shops or pick someone up or whatever, i would let my team down and they could start off that process all over again.
The game is Awesome but not friendly to anyones life unless You have an extremely flexible schedule. If they could somehow build it more around shorter runs and accomplishments i would still be playing it. Maybe they did that already i wouldn't know because i quit after like half a year.
Maybe they got teleporters now or whatever.

hahahah crap, I thought I made some good points there. I guess I should just stick to work & stop posting here :P

Seriously though, Is WoW everyone's first MMO or wat? I can't even loot people, there's no housing, no death penalty, and the PVP is all instanced and organized, I mean I might as well go play COD or something.

Thanks for that rant Gran dad. 'Things were better in my day'...... nostalga for the loss it seems.

Perhaps you should start some more topics.....

'Kids in my day respected their elders'

or

'You don't know how lucky you are'

There is a retro forum I think, you can go there and avoid all these scary 'new' games such as wow and the like.

tis, i tried the month trial, bought it then got bored in the second month so now i'm stuck with wow, burning crusade and a two month pass. I might get back to it someday but it just wasn't my sort of game.

One thing i did notice is how additive it was getting, but at the same time i realised how pointless the game actually is like spending 5 hours a night just to level up for pretty much nothing, and it gets seriously boring levelling up, but for those that enjoy mmos there really isn't much better.

I suppose it's good that World of WarCraft is setting a high standard for MMORPGs and games in general. Hopefully others will try to surpass World of WarCraft and create even better games.

Yes, because a 3rd/1st person stealth game is totally comparable to Quake in 1950.

I'm quitting WoW now. I'm tired of the unbalanced PVP that they do nothing to balance. I'm there for the PvP, but I just can't take it anymore. Death Grip...seriously? What the hell where they even thinking...

From a Grandad's perspective Fuk I'm not even 30 yet)

Warhammer is ok, but it doesn't really add anything that WoW doesn't have. I played it for a while, it's less time consuming, and I enjoyed it more than WoW but not by much.

KIDS, IN MY DAY WHEN I WALKED TO SCHOOL THROUGH WAIST HIGH SNOW WE HAD REAL MMO'S.;)

hahaha seriously, we robbed a guys house in UO, 2 years worth of gear we looted through a house trade deal we worked out. He cried for weeks, most fun I've had in an MMO yet. The GM's were just standing there watching us pillage his house too, but since we didn't break any 'rules' in the game they couldn't do a thing.

Eurogamer is going against their "only a few 10's a year" mantra, and they still have a few games to go.

I've always beaten on WoW, always given it the cold shoulder... yet always been slightly intrigued by it. After reading this review I might as well give the game a chance. What caught my attention is "grinding shouldn't be this fun." I don't like the idea of paying monthly fees to play a game, but if I get enjoyment from it then I guess it makes sense. However, one thing I do think will probably alienate me from the game is the fact I am pretty much a singleplayer-only gamer, multiplayer in any sense really has never much appealed to me.

If WOTLK offers a better singleplayer experience then I may just consider trying it.

Read their scoring guide. MGS4 scored a 8/10 because it isn't for everyone. It has a lot of elements in it that would bore a non-MGS/Kojima fan. Did you actually read the reviews or just look at the scores?

the monthly fee is very justifiable considering the amount of content your getting.

I found out about Eurogamer after reading their Mirror's Edge review and then reading the scoring guide. It actually makes sense... and 5/10 is actually the "average," not 7/ or 8/10 like most other places.

However, there are some 10/10's they have given I don't agree with. But all the other scores I do, even Shadow of the Colossus (8/10), because it fits with their guidelines.

Is one of those 10/10s Fable 2 by any chance?Â
