The people who bash it probably have never played it, or it's just not their type of game. Also, you can have the QQers who never "l2p" their character and complain because it's too "hard" to get gear.

I do agree to an extent... but I wouldn't say it's the best game ever.

1. If you've played WoW since release, it's hardly cheap.

2. The kinds of people that presume to judge the way other people live their lives based on their own subjective POV or some hive-mind societal standard, are far more pathetic than the people they look down their nose at.

On topic, there was a point in time I might have agreed with you about WoW being the best game available, but that was quite awhile ago, Blizz has done a lot of things that have lowered the quality of the game from what it was.

Just because there is a huge misconception about WoW players and their lives doesn't mean that every single WoW player is a lifeless, live in mom's basement type of person.

I would suggest not generalizing, it really shows your ignorance.

I played the game for about a year and a half, half three heavily geared level 60's (troll shaman, undead warlock, troll hunter, on the Dunemaul server). I think it's *far* from the best game ever, precisely because people confuse addictive content with really stimulating content. It's definitely the most engaging MMORPG I'd ever played though.

I'll take Human and Orcs over WoW anytime and anyday, i really prefer RTS over MMORPG. So this thread fails because TC think that his arguments are facts.

BTW. Please Blizzard return WarCraft to RTS.

Omni-Wrath

-Virtually no Story (kinda hard to be the best rpg without a story ain't it)

-Trashy gameplay (I can get something to eat and still beat what ever I was fighting)

-Takes too much time to get anything accomplished

-monthly fees

-guild aren't guilds as much as they are giant raiding parties

-Cartoony graphics throw off the epicness that warcraft deserves

-The most generic MMO on the market (actually not its fault, but never the less it is)

as much as i have burned out of wow, i still have to admit that mmorpg's on the pc(for the most part) have more replay value and fun factor than anyother game.

How can it be cheap to pay 15 dollars a month and buy yearly expansion packs?byge

Because spending £9 a month and £20 once every 2 years is a hell of a lot cheaper than substancless 6 hours graphics whoring shooters that cost £40 that console gamers seem to jump on every new itteration with just a few months break....

"Rainbow Six is awesome!!" "zomg Gears of war buy buy" "Halo 3 incoming!!!!" and the cycle goes on forever, because your games last 6-8 hours, repetitive barely evolving multiplayers lead you to the next itteration.

So every few months you pay $40 for 6 to 8 hours of fresh story and gameplay and "barely evolved" multiplayer VS paying $120 a year for no new story and virtually unchanged multiplayer so you can have the privilege of running the same instance over 300 times, and the farming for potion mats you do in between. Sounds like roughly the same cost per year for me - only at the end of buying three shooters a year, I have three different games to play, rather than one big one.

Both are a ripoff for what you get... And we're both doing great injustice to each game/series of games with our oversimplifications.

The story stagnates for months on end, they release some new instance which has hardly any effect on the world, and basically no effect on the way you play the game, and the only real forward movement in the story comes from the expansion packs... Besides, one thing that IS true is that the people who have been playing WoW for this long don't play hours day to day to experience the wonderfully told story - if you're trying to sell WoW on how great the story is, you're arguing about something with most of its actual audience doesn't give a rat's arse about.

And no-one is forcing you to buy a new shooter every few months, which is the claim of relative value I was responding to.

And the problem with just dropping out of a game that has an evolving community and stringent requirements for becoming involved in the competitive part of that community is that, you stop playing for a month, you'll have to play hard for another month to get back into that competitive part of the community. If you're happy to just bumble along and literally run the same low end instances until you hate the game, or be on farm-status for PvP, feel free to drop out when you're bored of it. Just don't expect the game to be that hospitable to you when you come back.

As for no effect on the world... erm... its not meant to, just YOUR Experiances and YOUR character... I dont see whats wrong with that, although WOTLK introduces Quest Phasing, where you see different things to others pending on how far along you are.... for example the Battle for Undercity ( Varimathras Rebels against Sylvannas ) , You then see the battle scarred undercity, varimathras is o longer there ect ect.

And as someone else said... you dont have to keep repeating.... once youve got what you need... take a break?

the tc is obviously addicted to the game. When I was addicted to the game I would have said the same thing since it is the only game I wanted to ever play and my consoles collected dust. The problem though is if you stop and look at it the game is extremely flawed and for most people it is just a matter of time until they get tired of it. Good thing though to because back when I was addicted to that game I didnt want to do anything else

Yes World of Warcraft is the best game ever and beats every game ever made.

-Best Replay value.
-Cheap and worth it
-Never ends
- No Problems no lag
- Amazing gameplay
- Constant updates
- Best RPG
- Best everything

WOW is not for nerds and people with no lives. I mean if you say it is look you are on a gaming website yourself.

Omni-Wrath

I play WoW. I have three level 70s. This post is probably one of the most ignorant, and false posts I've ever read.

There's no such thing as replay value with WoW, it's actually called paying to play for content that, as you say "Never ends" which is still untrue, as why do you think so many players end up with so many alts?

No problems, and no lag... Did you stop playing for like, the last 3 months or so? The servers have been down a lot, there's been lag galore, and there's been so many issues with ****balance since the last patch. Yes, you lied again.

Yes, it's amazing. For some. A lot of people hate grinding, a lot of people don't take interest in furthering a character, only for them to have their gear replaced in the next patch/expansion.

Constant updates... Once every 3 months or so.

Best RPG... No. Best everything... No, not even close. Though, it is a very good game, and yes, it isn't just for nerds, it's for people who like I said, like furthering characters for fun.

Simply put, you're an eejit.

PC360Wii

Ask the OP if it matters - he's the one who was claiming WoW has a great story. My point is, functionally, it really doesn't. Who the hell plays WoW for lord knows how long for story? Its charm story gets exhausted pretty bloody quickly.

Two points concerning what WOTLK introduces... One, it just introduced it - up until now, the WoW story has been all but stagnant outside of minor updates with new instances introduced in patches (few and far between), or with expansion packs (of which there is one). Two... Once you've exhausted those Quest Phased items you're talking about, you're back to the same old same old - the world is the world and it's going to stay that way. End of story, until Blizzard decides to release their next patch.

As for things just affecting MY character, you're talkinga bout some continuity of story, my character's personal adventure in the world of Azeroth... Well, the moment you start doing the exact same thing over and over, that pretty much goes out the window. If you want to really roleplay your charater and make his own personal story, WoW lasts about 5% as long, since you can only do one instance once... I mean, your personal story stops making sense when you've killed the dark Baron of Strathholm twice - let alone 20 times trying to get his mount to drop. Sadly enough, that's what WoW is - once you've exhausted the content, have gone through the story (concerning which you're basically a nothing - Thrall is a player in this story, you're just some peon soldier out fighting for the glory of the Horde), you basically just do the same bloody thing over again.

Compared to the standards we're used to for a regular game, so little happens in WoW between expansions for the amount of time you put into it... Story just isn't even close to the drawing point for this game. Sorry, that's a fact.

For the price of one console game you get 4 months of WoW. Think how many games have 6-11 hour single player campaigns this gen. The amount of play a person gets from $60 of WoW and that amount of play a person gets from 1 console game is not even close.

I agree with the TC WoW is the best game. I have played for a few years with a couple breaks here and there and I still think it is a blast after all this time.

You are making fun of people playing a game while you are on a game website forum. Just think about that one a sec and maybe you will understand how much sense that is.

I've got hundreds of hours of enjoyment from Halo 3, Viva Pinata (1 and 2), and Civilization: Revolutions. Also, while the quantity in a game like Mass Effect or Lost Odyssey isn't as notable, the quality of my enjoyment of those hours makes it *well* worth the price of admission.

As someone who had dozens upon dozens of days played across multiple characters in WoW, I can honeslty say, I don't think it's the best game out there. I'm fine with other people thinking it's the best for them - but don't try and tell me it's "the best" - period. I have plenty of experience with it, and that statement is simply false for me.

Did not know I had to put in my opinion and not a fact of life since anything anyone says on here is opinion. Of course it is not fact for every gamer in the world it is the best ever but for me it is.

I do think there is very few games that offer the amount of play that WoW offers. Arena and battleground PVP, Dungeon and town raids, normal instances, questing, the special stuff like holiday fun, and much more.

Yes World of Warcraft is the best game ever and beats every game ever made.

-Best Replay value.
-Cheap and worth it
-Never ends
- No Problems no lag
- Amazing gameplay
- Constant updates
- Best RPG
- Best everything

WOW is not for nerds and people with no lives. I mean if you say it is look you are on a gaming website yourself.

Goliathfan1

-Virtually no Story (kinda hard to be the best rpg without a story ain't it)

-Trashy gameplay (I can get something to eat and still beat what ever I was fighting)

-Takes too much time to get anything accomplished

-monthly fees

-guild aren't guilds as much as they are giant raiding parties

-Cartoony graphics throw off the epicness that warcraft deserves

-The most generic MMO on the market (actually not its fault, but never the less it is)

Wow this is funny.

Virtually no story? Try reading the quests.

Trashy gameplay? Can you name an MMO with better gameplay?

Takes too much time to get things accomplished? You do realise that out of all the MMos on the market WoW takes the LEAST time to do anything in right?

Monthly fees? Again almost every mmo has them.

Gulds aren't guilds? Maybe yours is like that this is an opinion not a fact.

Cartoony graphics? Have you looked at the warcraft games  ?

Most Generic MMO? Can you tell me another mmo that does PVE and PVP very well at once?

If you want to compare how many hours of your life WOW vs every other game ever made sucks out of your life, then yes WOW wins.

Au contraire.

If I were to choose between living a mostly offline life and playing World of Warcraft, I would choose the first.
