Worldwide Hardware Sales April 2008 - w/ Running Totals for Entire Year

Each month I'm gonna try and pick up the hardware sell-through for Japan, America, and European/Others estimates and post it here. I'll also try to keep a running total as well. Prior month's numbers are linked below.

NOTES BELOW

• ***ALL NUMBERS COME FROM EITHER MEDIA CREATE OR THE NPD. THE ONLY NUMBERS WHICH ARE GENERATED FROM VGCHARTZ ARE THOSE FOR THE EUROPEAN/OTHERS TERRITORIES. THEY ARE MEANT AS PLACEHOLDERS AND ARE MARKED AS ESTIMATES.
• THERE ARE TWO SETS OF TOTALS.....
• SET ONE INCLUDES ONLY MEDIA CREATE AND NPD (I.E. NO VGCHARTZ) AND INCLUDES AMERICA AND JAPAN.
• SET TWO INCLUDES MEDIA CREATE, NPD, AND VGCHARTZ ESTIMATES OF EUROPE/OTHERS AND THUS INCLUDES AMERICA, JAPAN AND EUROPE/OTHER

So did I.....Wii officially won this generation today. It's over. I will no longer claim that the PS3 or 360 has a chance to outsell the Wii this generation.

1. Large amounts of Damage Control

2. Large amounts of ownage

Man PS2 outsold xbox360 in sometime...wow lol

and Wii is unstopable in sales yes.

I was waiting for the "the wii is killing gaming" argument to come up.

Personally I blame all the "hardcore" gamers. if they would just do the right thing and buy four or five 360s and PS3s the wii would be in third place and the gaming world would be saved!!!

The weirdest thing has happened to the industry. And I'm just disappointed that Nintendo have managed to pass off 6 year old+ hardware as next gen and at the price it sells.

And while Nintendo are laughing all the way to the bank, the 360 and PS3, the consoles, who are pushing graphics technology forward, as has been the case for the last 30 years, are getting left in the dust.

The 360s failure to establish a market in Japan is going to kill them in the long run. This is going to allow the PS3 to catch up very fast, just look at what the PSP is doing in Japan right now.goodlay

Then again, lol @ Sony. They deserve this for their crappy ideas about Cell, Blu-ray and possibly expecting the Playstation 3 to discipline our children.

Nintendo is just getting warmed up. Imagine when the wii gets a price drop. The 360 and ps3 won't stand a chance against a sub-200$ console with some very good exclusive games.

And you are right that people are paying ridiculous amounts for cheap hardware. 360 and ps3 are both worth nearly as much as you spend on them, while each wii has been giving about 100$ profit into nintendo's coffers.
