I would count the virtual boy as a handheld, not a console.
Well... not really a handheld.. heck I don't kknow what to call it... It was junk, lol. But it didn't plug into a TV, so I wouldn't put it in the console category.
Of all time, or this gen? I kinda don't like all consoles equally this gen... the PS3 feels kinda cheap and not "slick" enough as far as the UI goes, the 360 doesn't have nearly as many features as I would expect it to have, having a hard drive and all, and the Wii is starting to get a little too gimmicky.

Responces like yours are the reason people stop posting on these boards. The Xbox was the most advanved console last gen and the 360 is still a good console except for the RRoD. Staying on topic I would say its between CDi and 3D0. Would have picked PIPPIN but I have never seen one.
I said CDi because everyother console to date had atleast one good game but the CDi had nothing that was good unless you wanted to play 3 of the worst games of all time, Zelda: Wand of Gamelon, Zelda: Link and the Faces of Evil, and Zelda: Zelda's Adventure. (They might not be the worst but they are close to being the worst games of all time.)

You have obviously never played Tempest 2000, great game. Alien vs Predator was good too. Jaguar also had Ultimate Doom. Overall the Jaguar was horrible (with the worst controller ever conceived) but not as bad as some. CD-I was definitely worse
So many tempting options here. The Virtual Boy was just a retarded idea all around. The fact it ever came out despite being so obviously stupid means it should get my vote...but....
The 3dO had AWFUL games and more criminally, it had a $700 dollar price tag in 1996! and for WHAT?! That price tag alone should damn it.
In the end I gave it to Philips though. Even worse games, an ugly price tag (not as bad as Panasonic, but still $400 in the 90s). But the real reason i picked is that out of all these options (not even counting Apple), it's probably the one that the fewest people even remember. Being totally forgotten is probably the biggest mark of failure.
Setting aside the functionally retarded fanboys mentioning the Wii, 360 or PS3 in this thread, I would say the CD-i is the worst pile of **** ever. They produced the worst Zelda games ever created. How do you completely ruin a Zelda game?
