...impact your future hardware purchasing decisions?

Somewhat based on a thread I'm reading on gaf.

The timing and magnitude of the 3DS price drop was, afaik, unprecedented and, IMO, the way the 3DS's launch was handled is affecting and will affect sales of the PSV at its current pricepoint.

To what degree, I don't really know - it may be negligible in the grand scheme, but if it were to repeat itself I think the cumulative impact could be significant.

While I personally don't early adopt on gaming hardware and would like the PSV to drop in price in a similar fashion - I'm curious what impact it would have on purchasing habits of others.

If the compensation is half as good as the 3DS ambassador program, than its all good.

I never buy hardware at launch, but I know tons of people that wanted the PSV, but said "oh it will drop in price in a few months anyway like the 3ds." I'm 100% positive that if the 3ds didn't drop price so soon, much more PS Vitas would be selling right now. If ps vita drops price soon, the same thing may happen to the Wii U and continue that way.

All I have to say is that I hope it does. I do want a PS Vita but $250 is a little too much for it, especially when there is only one game out that I would consider buying. Uncharted: Golden Abyss.

I'm not an early adopter, so it wouldn't change any of my spending habits.

Too much for a portable gaming system especially with the lack of good titles, such as Uncharted which was supposed to be a system seller.

Not really. I mean if I was planning on getting the hardware and I knew or heard about a possible price drop on the card then I certainly wuold hold off until the price drop. There is no real benefit to buying hardware at launch other than some sembelance of bragging rights if that is your cup of tea.

I always wait for price drops(or 95% of the time anyway) so it wouldn't really affect anything for me.

It would make it easier for me to buy one. It's NOT worth $250. A smartphone is, but not a handheld gaming device.

use basic economics; yes, it would impact purchasing habits. Its possible because next generation tablets (iPad 3) and smartphones are going to use very similar technology. Sony could cut the price and still make a profit in less than a year.

Nope, hell I went through the overpriced 3ds and I didn't regret it. Doubt the vita having a price drop will affect me.

i wouldn't surprised if before the end of the year the vita does get a price drop but i doubt i'll pick up a vita this year anyways so it wouldn't have a effect on me if it did or didn't get one
