Would a slim version of Xbox 360 be a good move for Microsoft?

I don't see why not. They've been making a profit for a while, and a smaller manufacturing process, over time, could net them even more of a profit. Though their initial costs may be higher.

If it didn't come with baby RROD's it would be an awesome move. They could relaunch the console with natal, and maybe give us a controller with a usable dpad!

breathin new life into the system is always god. I think the best time for a slim is now alongside the Natal. it''ll be like a double jump or something.

As long as they have some quality assurance on the devices.

i think it would be very good. specially in japan. they think alot of stuff over here is american junk to start with. and these tons of rrod rummors didnt help the 360 much. so i think they might might give a slim 360 a chance. ied say release it with at least 120 gig hdwith natal for 199. if they wouldnt get 360 sales over there they should just not sell xboxs over there at all next gen imo

Any alteration to the current look would spark interest.

It's why the Wii was white for so long, and now they're releasing a black one due to slower sales.

PS3 went slim because it also had low sales.

PSP/DS both went slim, and had multiple colors (however only the DS exploded in sales afterwards o_O)

iPods went through multiple revisions

you know where I'm going with this.

Slim console = cheaper price due to lower production cost. You tell me if its a good thing or bad thing ;)

Sure but not right now. I think they want to focus on the Natal first. If a Slim 360 is cheaper that would be great, but I also think they can just keep on lowering the price of a 360 and they're good.

Not really copying is it? They will say that, but if they do, they are all deluded!

I think it would. They could also maybe try to rebrand the 360 like they did the PS3, that might work wonders for them. Atelast, it did for SONY.

i say absolutely. you come out with Natal and a re-branding of sorts with a slimmer, sleeker, more stylish 360. its a win, win. most hardcore gamers have already bought a 360 obviously. but they have to go after that casual market like nintendo. what a better way than with a slick new advertising campaign, a new hardware design, and Natal. also, i know its been done a million times, but why not 360's in more colors? that always boosts sales (see black wii for details)

I doubt they will come out with a Slim, but more likely the mystery Motherboard that shows up on the Internet is probably for the rumored Xbox with Natal built in. Balmer pretty much already confirmed it by accident.

lol glorified eyetoy

It would be a good move if the price was right, as it was with the PS3 Slim.

While it might not be the best d-pad or even close to the best, it's definitely usable. I use it all the time in PGR :P

I don't know why anyone would want a slim 360 when they can't even make a reliable fat 360.
