i guess you are the ones who dont understand. This very thread just goes to show you how people are so misinformed or closedminded on the very subject of DRM. Even if it was offered as an OPTION, people like ps4trumpsxbox1 would say that DRM is being forced upon you. lol

Whats sad is that there are a lot of lems like you that liked the idea of the original policies MS was trying to implement. I guess you guys like restrictions and extra fees (Oh what about the family plan...... guy) What is stopping MS from doing the family share thing where you can share a game digitally with up to 9 other people??? Doesnt seem like anything, to share digitally I could see having to require people to connect online but what other restriction would there be? Idiots like you like being online all the time and having to connect every 24 hours. I'm sure you would love buying a used game from gamestop and then having to pay another 30 or 40 bucks for the activation fee? You enjoy games shipping incomplete (Forza)? Why did you even create this thread, it wont be optional and MS will bring it back. SOmetime in the future there will probably be some story about MS server's being hacked or Xbox one's being hacked and MS will use this an excuse to bring the policies back, screwing the gamer.i am one who wants the digital model, I want alwayson more than anything. What i liked about the model the most what being on a network where devs can update there game daily on an always on network. They would be more involved, more innovation would happen. It could be such a simple thing as changing a banner in a sports game to reflect the day and time to make the game more realistic. LIke st pattys day a st pattys day scoreboard. I loved the vision they had, but they went about it the wrong way. If they made it optional at the start it would be alot easier to adapt.
Yeah, Microsoft had an interesting vision, but they added way too many restrictions. You can't really go half way with this sort of thing though, with what they were trying to do, you either change things a lot or leave them as it is. There's really no half-measure that would make this sort of thing worth it. It's still too early for what Microsoft was trying to do, they'll have to wait until things go all digital for their policies to be decent.
